Google Chrome 13 now includes what they've called 'Instant Pages'. Essentially it pre-empts which links you might click on a certain page and pre-renders them in the background so that when they are clicked the page loads instantly - a pretty decent idea if you ask me.

It's an old idea with a new name. I don't know who stated it (maybe AOL?) but EarthLink was one of the early adopters. It seemed to make sense when people were using dialup connections but it had problems and with the advent of fast access is not necessary anymore.
