Working on a new software idea for Devs in general. So the question is what do you ask your self when you go to write your game on paper before creation? What planned questions do you ask your self etc. Also what would be helpful to you when "planning" and "designing" your software/game. Thanks for the input in advance.

EDIT:

Ok here is what Ive comeup with so far for this tool idea:

Obviously still a long ways to go but what do you think so far?

anyway here is the main idea/selling point. The files will be compressed, encrypted and secure to share. This will enable you to safely store your project information, share it with out fear of theft threw email etc. Plus its all encrypted, I might even put in a password system to for further security. The idea is to allow you the dev the abilitty to safely store info, record if for legal purposes and keep it all organized. As stated you will be able to email the project file to other as well with out having to send a bunch of text docs that just look plain unorganized and scary. If your working solo, this can help you stay organized and help you know what needs to be done amound many other features.

Anyway still working on this tool but I wanted to share the building blocks aka first steps of this tool. Not sure if it is good enough to sell for a small fee or just hand out not sure. Not even sure if their is a market for this kind of tool.

I think its a good idea.
I have some ideas you can use.

how about a flow chart section where you can design logic flow and program loops.

you could make the basic flow chart then click on items in the flow chart and go into more detail, and then click on those for more detail etc.

those can house code snippets pictures and ideas and such. -draw concept pics with mouse or paste from clipboard,

have a database where you can add characters, places, define relationships, objects, plot.

use these database entries for a storyline flowchart with all the same features as the program loop flowchart.

have a to do/problem checklist in which you can tag any flow chart or database item.

upon solving issues you can leave a comment(as detailed as you want) on how you fixed it, failed ideas, possible other fixes.

date them and export them as a developer diary that you can read chronologically.

um...

that's about all i got right now, but there is sure to be more and ill pipe up if your interested.

I think software like this that can organize a chaotic brain full of code and ideas will be great.

its just gotta be clear and effective enough that its worth using, because if it just does the same tasks that i already do in my head then I as an end user will skip the software and just use my mind.

to present the user with a coherent structure map of their code ideas can help streamline inefficient processes and lame or repetitive story ideas and that's an awsome idea for software.
to put in an idea and get back, "well this is the condensed basic jist of your idea removed from your mind and presented back to you as a user."

I like it.

good luck with your project

I planeed something simular but never thought of flow charts. Thank for the input, Ill be sure to include it.

Edit:

I wanted to display something fairly dear to my heart when it comes to project development/design.

In todays world, alot of discrediting and pirating media takes place. FYI if your planning on making or selling any type of software. Useing pirated or stolden media reguardless of free or pay to use software will result in jail most likely. Anyway, this section on the organizer will help you avoid jail. at the bottom it allows the sound engineer to credit or make credit notes of any ones work he/she barrowed to make a sounf effect, track or what ever. This forum will also allow project users to preview the sound engineers work, post comments/suggestions and allow them to reply back.

another little nifty section for the sound engineer is the meeting notes section. Here they can record any notes durning a meeting they felt were important to them in the project. They can later use those notes during the creation of review of tracks they are working on.

Anyway, this is just a minor update on the tool. So far I'm still working on the forum layout overall. Right now its like a giant collection of organized text documents. Still very messy lol give me a bit of time and I shall have something more appealing for you all to review. Thanks for the input so far.
