Ok, i'm really mad right now...... MSVC++ 2008 keeps crashing after opening it up. I've tried everything between uninstalling it then re-installing it but it's still the same thing. Any idea what it could be?

Any idea what OS your running? What service pack it might be? Did this happen after you'd been using it for a while or on first install? Does it give any error message? Have you recently installed any updates or service packs? Etc, etc, etc?

Brian.

windows 7 sp1 and it's always worked before no error messages, just says microsoft visual studio has encountered a problem
then closes....if i can't figure this out i'll just have to re-format everything (kind of a bummer when u consider this could be fixed without re-formating)x64 8 gig ram

Strange. I run my Visual 2008 on Windows 7 SP1 with no issues at all and I use it daily.

If you uninstall it, you may need to search out and remove any entries in the registry relating to Visual first before reinstalling. Otherwise when you try to run the fresh install, a reference to an old location or file may be the cause of it.

On mine, I have:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VBExpress
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VCExpress
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VCSExpress
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Visual Basic
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft also has the same entries as above.

Did you try to create another user account in Windows and then access that account and fire up Visual? If so, did it run? Otherwise, there could be an issue elsewhere that uses common shared files that Visual uses as well.

No problem. Not sure if I was any help, but glad you're up and running again.
