Anyone here thinking of getting it? I'm a fan of the franchise, and while I had an initial lukewarm feeling about the new take,, the trailers look to be fast paced and fun.

Doesn't resemble the older games at all, the new cartoon look and the fact that it seems way too simple makes me steer away from this game. But then again AoE 3 wasn't that good either. The best AoE game is definetely AoE 2: Conquerors.

agreed in full.

I beta tested AOEO and it was actually very boring and repetitive. I only found one mission genuinely challenging, and it took a while before any sense of story line kicked in.

But hey, it's free.

It is amazing, BUT: the whole city management (online part) is kind of... crap, i mean it's not even a little bit okay: I DONT CARE ABOUT MY CITY, i just want to do the missions and the early staged PvP is very unbalanced: the one with the best geared troops win, end of it =/

the missions are fun, the artistic style is brilliant and such though in other words: the online part is worseless, the SP part is kind of nice ^^

and for the record, I am a man.

I played the beta, and even though the graphics are cartoony the game-play is nearly identical to AOE 2 once you get into PVP. I actually kind of like the style.

im not trying to flame, but I was always into Age of Empire series. i didn't like the first one much because it took forever to kill a single unit. i wanted it to be more life like. other than that i liked Age of Empires only because Starcraft wasn't my cup of tea. if only the last one allowed more units. my favorite was only aoe 2 and 3.

well im installing it right now. i'm just going to go with the greeks.
