I just got a new machine! joy!

it has a quad core i7 3.6ghz processor
8 gig of ram
1 gig nvidea geforce gts 250 graphics card

im only running windows xp on it at the moment, but im gonna get win7 64bit edition soon and check out how good 8 gig ram actually is.

even as is, im finding it hard to challenge it with any game in my collection. (tried oblivion, assassins creed, loading halflife2 and resident evil 5 now) I max out the specs and it runs like a dream.

I guess its up to me to make a stupidly greedy program to find the boundary.

anyway, im done bragging, I just got a nice new machine and felt like telling people!

hooray!!!

Somewhat outdated eh? How about coming over to the power of Direct X11 with a GTX 560 Ti or something, that is if you will get Windows 7?

But it is, nonetheless, a very good toy!

They're not demanding games though. the graphics card is a bit old. The GTS 450 is miles superior to it, and still only a mid-end card

I also have a GTS250, and I'm very happy about it, runs everything, and why go for DX11 now, wait for the 6xx series, since right now there are practicly no games fully supporting it...

Else, quite nice

600 series due out soon, just around the season corner... possibly I believe I heard early 2012

Please Please Please its NVIDIA!!!

I got a GTX260 Core 216 Extreme+ has 24 more cores than the 260 standard 192cores... and was a good chump specially with Shift 2 on full with a wheel on a core2quad Q6600 GO SLACR edition with 4-8GB ram...

I however will be upgrading to an Core i7 soon possibly a second or maybe wait for the third gen ones and get a 6/12 core version...

gts 250 has just like 96 cores...

I personally wish to get a 590 dual gpu card possibly 2 of them... as I do a lot of CUDA video editing often and coding too.

lets just wish my shop opens soon and I can get cheaper parts

run something like PC MARK VANTAGE and 3D MARK VANTAGE on your new rig and post back benchmarks we can all do this too

EDIT

forgot to say congrats buddy congrats

I simply love Nvidia because for me they are still 3DFX and should ATI have bought 3DFX out I will guarantee you I will love ATI regardless of how pathetic they are and non innovative... but thanks to 3DFX Nvidia for me reigns supreme in every aspect... Nvidia just WORKS ATI just Fails ever since the rage128.

Yeah Can you send links on Kepler please? I will have a quick look at nvidias website now but... maybe its not quite on there yet.

Theres only 2 programs i have that use all 6 cores of my Amd XII6, Thats 3ds max when rendering and Zbrush uses the other two as overflow.

Other than that nothing ive came across comes near it.

yeah, a new card is definitly on the... cards. I only had enough money for the machine and figured my current card would still go alright.

That's part of the reason im so stoked, those are the most intensive games my old machine could handle, and even then it really couldn't handle them, low graphics no antialiasing and still chunky. to see them run well is a dream.

I'm a bit out of date with the computer arms race as i've been making do with what I've got for about 6 years now.

first up i'm gettin win 7 64 bit then I'm gonna save for a new vid card.

will do and post results later tonight.

thanks all
