Everyone, the world has stopped turning and we should all take a second in our busy lives to turn off the music we're listening to, turn off the tv, do what you may, because something has just happened that will either stop you in your tracks crying or reveal you are not a living being. One of the most iconic characters in the world, known by everyone, loved by many, loved by me, has passed away. Today I got Batman issue 473, and... there's no easy way to say this, Bruce Wayne is dead.

He died originally in the graphic novel "In Blackest Night" mostly about Green Lantern, along with many others. It was revealed he wasn't really dead when at the end of the novel they find out it was an alternate reality. But after Bruce Wayne's final return to Gotham, he found out who was running the town now. Dick Grayson, first robin who early on quit to become Nightwing, has taken the cowl and the third robin, Damian, Batman's son, is now Robin. Technically Damian (Bruce's son) was Robin before, but only for a matter of days before in the timeline Blackest Night happened. Seeing the two so happy together, Bruce gladly went to Dick and gave him permission to run the town, then realized that he was in the afterlife. Bruce was dead. He found his dead body and a memory came to him of Superman holding his molding body, saying he died for us. Bruce faded away, and we had no idea if the alternate reality was still going on, because why would they kill of freaking Bruce Wayne? And they never told us if it was real.

It's real.

The comic was called storybook endings, about the evolution of Batman, at the end revealing everything that happened is permanent. So now stop and think. Batman. Dead. So many movies and games and TV Shows. People like me dedicated to him... and now he's just.

He's just dead. I thought when Tim Drake got hit by a car they were crossing the line. But this is... I am not even partially letting this sink in and I'm still crying. I will still talk about Batman because there still is one, but although Dick Grayson deserves the cowl, and he will be Batman, he will never be the Batman. And rest assured Bruce Wayne will still be in the movies, because think about it. Most of that didn't have Robin, they don't care about accuracy. People know Batman as Bruce Wayne, which is why it's so shocking.

I know I had the Addict Club and Batman Arkham City, but I think this deserves it's own thread.

Rest in peace.

EDIT: This story has not been researched. It has been a long time going on this death, and this how I interpreted what little they showed us. There was little to no explanation, but Batman is dead and that's all that matters.

Look, I'm sorry but get a grip xD! He's a character in a comic book...
And the character isn't even dead, you said some other guy has taken over the role of Batman anyway?

Down with the Bat. Joker will be sad, no Bat to play with any more.

I'd be willing to bet that he'll back. Comic book characters don't seem to stay dead for long.

They make too much money. Haha.

Also. Chill out. It's just a comic book.

I just want you to know that this is a Comic Book Character that I have dedicated my life to.

Quote: "I'd be willing to bet that he'll back. Comic book characters don't seem to stay dead for long."

And he is dead for good. They brought him back already, many times, and this time they did in a much more serious manner. He's dead for good this time.

Quote: "Joker will be sad, no Bat to play with any more."

But the character is not dead it's self, so my life can go on, and Joker has a bat to play with.

Dick Grayson is taking over, but since Bruce Wayne is the Batman we know and love, it kind of changes the whole game.

The people up top do but the writers have recently been complaining online about lack of pay.

Do you know anyone who doesn't know who Batman is? People in India and China, any country you can name has some version of Batman, or a Batman movie. He's up there, much more popular then Superman, you must say.

But they were cheap, obvious alternate realities. He has been replaced and forgotten in the Batman universe already. They dedicated a whole issue to the evolution of the various Robins and Batmans, ending in a very sad scene putting the whole Bruce Wayne death thing in stone.

He's legit dead now.

Yes and yes.

Over half of any kid under 10 do't know who Billy Mays is, but everyone knows Batman.

I'm pretty sure (they have not said) they are just remaking issue number one next month, and they are not remaking anything after that. It's official they're remaking number one, but we don't know about anything next.

This is a joke right? You were just trying to be funny and exaggerate right? Because that's seriously sad if you are crying because a comic book character dies.

I don't know if you were joking, but comic books have monthly issues while graphic novels are full length novels in comic book format.

You really thought people would care? Bruce Wayne, a comic book character who is not real, died... Batman still lives anyways. People can cry when REAL people die and they probably should cry if they were close to said person... People should NOT cry when a comic book character dies. That's getting far too attached to a non-reality. At least IMO... And being a male with an ego, crying should be something that is definitely not acceptable lol.

I don't want to say this but are you implying my little pony has anything to do with my sympathy? And I became a fan of MLP about a month ago... I've been a Batman freak since I joined 18 months ago. And yes I did expect sympathy because you all should know the level I take Batman to.

The fact that you take Batman that far, makes us even less sympathetic.

The world is not going to be kind to you Cormorant5. I suggest not sharing this kind of thing on the internet, you will just get trolled. Not many people will care, its a subject you should only share with close friends who will actually understand and not just laugh at you.

Meh. Spider-man is far better, anyways
But yeah. Never really cared for Batman myself, or super-heroes in general. But Spider-man has been, is, and always will be my favorite.

Wasteland isn't a bad comic series, either.

But I've know about Batman being dead for awhile. Didn't he die like a year or so ago?

I don't think he is too sensitive. If I dedicated my life to Batman and then he died for good I would be pretty cut up as well.

But I haven't

if you dedicated your life to Batman, do you think it would make him proud that you're weeping over his dead body like a little weakling? there's no crying in batman! PUNCHING!! THAT'S what batman would like to see out of you. now go beat the crap out of that bag at the gym and make your hero proud.
