I have recently made a video with Blender and added some effects to it with Adobe After Effects. I wanted to upload this video to YouTube as quickly as possible but I have a rather annoying issue. I started the upload thinking that it wouldn't take long, but I now stand frustrated and embarrassingly corrected. The file is 1.25 gigabytes and the time it would take to upload to YouTube is horrendous. I would wait for it to upload, but my step-father owns a very important business and can not afford to have slow internet for a long period of time. However, it is VERY important that I have this short clip up on the internet because it is probably the best piece of work I have ever made.

The properties of this video is in this code snippet.

I need help with encoding this video so that the size is significantly smaller but the quality is not altered too much. Please help, it is very important that I have this up on the internet. Cheers,

-Brandon

ok, try find settings which say minimum/target/max bitrate (dunno how after effects works) and try lowering them. you can set a hard limit on bitrate with that.

Greetings Ocho Thanks so much for the quick reply

I have recently uninstalled After Effects due to problems with the registration and haven't had the chance to reinstall it. Is there any program that can do this? I have Any Video Converter, But I have tried everything and it isn't seeming to work, I get a file with crappy sound (a lot of crackling) and the same size.

I KNEW it had something to do with that pesky bitrate..

Sometimes I wake up in the morning with my dog chewing on my toe and have an odd urge to go downstairs and work on Blender... I must be a nerd

unless you have premiere pro with after effects, the best bet is still to go through after effects. Professional software always seems to be better with video editing

try DivX Converter its free and will bring that 20 seconds to possibly 20MB @ 720p

If it was that important why didnt you export at 1080p? also either you were using a demo version or an older version it should have YT presets... anyway go try DivX Converter www.divx.com heres a head start for you.

Thanks, MrValentine. I didn't export to 1080 because I made the video in Blender, and rendering out 1080p video would take forever. Heck, 720p was almost too much time. Also, buffering 1080p video from YouTube is a pain and not many people do it, so I decided the final version was going to be in 720p. Thanks again

It is not that at all. I also use VirtualDub with xvid/ffmpeg, it works quite well.

Try re-exporting it from Adobe After effects itself with lower quality settings, and export it to a really common format like .WMV.

@brandx96

If you want I dont mind I just installed blender 2.59{stable} and tried some of the demo files and got the answer I was looking for... you can send me your blender file and I can output it in full 1080p ^^ takes me a couple of minutes to render out in 1080P formats... just say the word and I am more than happy to help...

I plan to perform such rendering for people soon anyway I will build a render unit soon for dedicated rendering... free for small projects

Will possibly build 2 one CPU based with multiple CPU's possibly a render farm or a cluster unit... and the other GPU based with 4 GPU's and possibly add several more to it via Farming when budgets allow for it... anyway if I can help you or anyone on here for that matter just ask

@MrValentine

That is a very generous offer, but the blender file has a smoke simulation in it, and it would require you to bake that as well. I have also reloaded my computer recently and the textures I used aren't on this computer yet. Does the blender file have the textures bundled in it? Also, I'm a little paranoid about someone stealing my best work, you know? No offense at all but I'm feeling a little bit sketchy about just kinda handing over the blender file to someone I don't know. I know you probably wouldn't do that, but I'm paranoid lol

Anyone have more answers for me? And just a reminder: I do not, I repeat, do not have after effects anymore, so posting fixes for my problem that have anything to do with after effects is of no use to me (of course, though, I really do appreciate the input you have all given me, so don't take any offense)

Also, I think my head is going to explode. Time for a couple motrin

Offence... none taken... I appreciate the sentiment and respect that view... in regards to even using blender other than pressing render animation I havent a clue how to use it lol...

umm textures... not sure unless there is an embed option... I saw the bake option... seen it in Maya and 3DS MAX too still dont get how that works...

Nevertheless I am just a helpful person the option of taking up my support is down to the end benefactor.

When you did render the video... what file format was chosen? and is it really just 20 seconds long? if it is re-render it with just 9000kbps bit rate and stream... in 720p should be done sooner than later compared to last time you did it... and output in h.264 or MPEG{2} ... in blender of course... whats your cpu ram and hdd spec? +OS?

Might I recommend:

http://youtubedownloader.com/

I use it for downloading videos, but it also converts and does a pretty good job of it.

I do not have ffmpeg installed on a server because it converts do FLV's poorly, but I do have mencoder installed on a virtual server at work. It converts uploaded videos to FLV so that they can be played around the site.
