I'm muddling through the export/import of DirectX objects and finally getting somewhere. I'm experienced in Lightwave but am a bit baffled by DirectX objects. I have exported a rotating object from LW and it loads ok. Soon as I use the "Play object" command it just vanishes. Ive now used Glue to Object and attached a DB cube to the imported LW object and that plays exactly as the LW import should, ie rotates. Is this a positional problem on the imported object? It seems to be ok on frame 1, but then goes away somewhere upon playing.
Help!

Been playing around and I don't think this is a DirectX animatiom-specific problem. If I just load the imported object (and don't PLAY it) and just rotate/move it then it dissapears.
Any ideas at all anyone???

Yes, dstorm with LW 65b. I can get the geometry out ok, but the animation won't play. Or it will, but the object dissapears and is'nt there to show it. Can you do a breakdown of your export process, and what settings you use?

Still no go. I can load the object and rotate/move it now, but as soon as Play Object is triggered it goes away. Looks like you're using LW7, wonder if it's a 6.5 related problem. Any little tricks in LW Layout?
Baffled.

I had the same exact problem with Max 4.0. I finally got my .x objects to play. Use the .3ds to .xconverter that comes with DB. I dont know if you can export .3ds files from lightwave.
