for example I am currently playing Xenogears and there is a part where you get given a rank and that rank determines your characters position in the location where he is... in short he is given Rank A and this allows him to bunk up on the nicer beds in the dorm... I thought theres a lot of factors in video games that we all like another example... Minigames... Final fantasy 8 had some fun inspirative minigames too such as those card games... so I ask all of you to mention your fav bits that you loved/liked or were inspired by... this might invoke some real creativity in us all and even get some of us to go back down the nostalgic route to find new ideas as I am doing this week.

Quik I love you but you missed out the point haha, ok you got a list of games there and genres... but you didnt mention any specific bits that caught your interest/eye/imagination/creativity.

Aside from Multi-Player Only Gun Games like CS:S possibly look at the other games that are single player or less just shoot to kill like CS:S.

I figure Alice im presuming you mean a new one or the most recent release? perhaps theres a scene in the game where you interact with other characters that you like? because of the cinematics surrounding that encounter?

I played that first 3D alice game way back... so I remember bits and bobs... pretty sure it hasnt changed much hehe... dang I miss those days... early life of the GPU hahahaha.

So yeah try to fish out emotional moments to put it bluntly.

Thanks for your post none-the-less How are you anyway Quik havent heard from you in a while what are you up to? projects wise / life up to you to say anything

Team Fortress 2 - The characterisation, especially the way you can tell a class from across the map by their silhouette and movement, etc. It's balanced on a knife-edge too...mostly.

Metro 2033 - Extraordinarily immersive until an AI breaks. The atmosphere is just amazing.

Crash Bandicoot. The mechanics and different angles made it a genius platformer.

@Quik

I am doing soso, shop is coming together slowly and personal life is going to tatters other than that life is dandy as usual

Going back on topic... does anyone remember Castleania Symphony Of The Night {SOTN} on the PS1? I loved how you could interact with the environment in so many creative ways... such as a lift that can be triggerred by switches and a boat steered by a skeleton man at pace in the erm underground caverns... and the weird clock tower that would only open if you carried certain items and in that same clock tower there were 2 statues... one of which opened at a specific time of the hour... amazing!

I like most games that have the ability to upgrade items by various means. In all of the Ratchet and Clank games the more you use a weapon the better it gets. Another game that weapon upgrades to the extreme is Dark Cloud where you can upgrade your weapons so much they eventually can turn into entirely different weapons of awesome power. In Dark Cloud the fun part is sometimes your weapon upgrade can turn into 2 different weapons so it's up to you to choose the best path to the ultimate weapon.

@Grog Grueslayer I remember a game os similar sorts... just can not pull the name to mind at the moment...

I will try to remember it and mention it when i can...

But I do agree this is a rare factor in games and possibly because its just as complicated to keep track of as an individual characters story line... for example {I havent played 2 or 3 yet and barely remember part 1} Fable... the character apparrently takes shape according to what your chosen actions were...

I think this is something all of us on here might want to take into account in our games... it will set your games aside from other indie games... and we have the capacity to do this regardless of it being highly complicated... sure some people will see it as being a level upper system but no... its far more complicated... several factors might ensue...

For example... Star Oceon 2 on the PS1 has over 80 different endings, could you imagine coding that?

Going back to our Evolving Gun {EG} lets say it has several mutation versions perhaps your game has similar characteristics to Fable... perhaps depending on your behaviour in the game maybe your EG will become white coloured if you were doing good stuff like killing bad guys and turning black or something maybe red for killing innocent bystanders too often... same could be said for a sword based weapon... {Think Onimusha?} This could be an interesting thing... also yeah the weapon could even maybe mutate into having specific powers depending on the route you take through the game maybe? for example... theres a land with 3 routes 1 a mountain volcano {Fire Ability} 2 a stormy desert pass {Lightning} 3 a water ridden path {Water Attacks} etc... imagine the skills getting more and more powerful!!!! oooo im getting sooo many ideas from this one, thanks for sharing that one Grog Grueslayer!
