Oh wow, every Brit I thought was older than me just posted. My perceptions of you all just changed massively.

For posterity's sake:

Maths - A, in year 10, like a boss.
English - A and C
Science - A, B, B
Electronics - C
IT - Distinction
Media Studies - A

And noone posted RE!? CHARLATANS!

I got a C in it. Oh, and a U in AS Maths during year eleven, since I finished the GCSEs early.

Guess what? I have never had anyone ask me for my GCSEs when applying for a job.

Some do. (I'm applying for work at the moment) Usually it's Maths and English...basically you're qualified for any job that asks for GCSEs. But the most important things employers are looking for a skills and experience. Your CV should be out to sell your skills not your qualifications, unless it's a specialist job where the qualification is a requirement.

As for RE, back when I was a weeeeee lad like you (who watched Powerpuff Girls, not My Little Pony) I got an A for my GCSE RE, it was my only A. I did RE for A Levels too.

But nice one on the maths mate, my school was terrible at teaching maths, there was the odd good maths teacher when you were lucky to have them. I can remember my year 11 maths teacher, halting the class to explain maths problems you've already done because the chavs at the front couldn't work them out and being yelled at for 'not paying attention and disrupting the class' when you continue to work through the harder ones. Yet when the chavs actively disrupted the class, she did nothing. Regardless, I ended up with a C, though all the maths I need can be done on a calculator.

I watched both...like a pro. Just throwing it out there that tey're made by the same person.

Anyway, I got consistently moaned at for listening to my MP3 player in class. Sadly, I felt it was necessary to blank out the genetic driftwood I shared a class with. None of them even tried, so I got As, they got high on drugs and got AIDS. 'Nuff said.

I seemed to get loads more GCSEs some people I know:
A*,A,A,A,A,B,B,B,B,B,C,D,D (that last D was a half GCSE and there's a double ICT award @ B in there )

xD My A-levels were appalling though:
C,C,D (I basically stopped caring about education and for some reason they screwed up my computing exam paper and gave me an E grade -.- (we got it sent back and you can see they've just gone through entire sections and marked things all wrong))

Uni is fun though if you get in later - Education starts to become interesting again. xD

Pah, GSCE's are easy. Not to take it away from you, but even a few months into college you'll have wondered why you called GSCE's "Hard"

but hey, I got 3A* 5A 2B when I did mine

I'm sure anybody who wants to be a gym instructor or personal trainer would find PE very useful.

Amen. I did mine 15 years ago now. Gulp. Back when they were harder. I didn't revise and got AAAABBBBC. Tried the same technique for my A-levels and got BDE.

To be fair to these guys, As and Bs are still good grades though, irrespective of the changing scale.

PE can take you a lot further than being an instructor in a gym...

They're exams you do when you're 16 and leave school with. People have the choice to continue their education from there or look for work. The system isn't exactly the same, I think in the US it's High School -> College/University, so your final school exams could potentially equate to our A-Levels as you jump from School into your degree qualification. For us (typically) it's Secondary School (ends with GCSEs) -> College/6th Form (ends with A Levels) -> University (end with a degree). GCSEs are compulsory, but anything afterwards isn't.

To make things confusing, the UK also has SATs, but they're not the same, they're completed at the end of Primary School and half way through Secondary School. Though that was when I was at school, I don't know how things have changed since, as people like to keep playing with the education system here.
