Apparently about 13 days ago Crytek released their free CryEngine 3 powered SDK! I'm downloading now, hopefully it makes my eyes explode.

DL'ed it already... made my PC run like a snail so I closed it a few. mins after opening :S Ill probably give it another try on my main desktop

Its a really nice piece of software though... and commercial royalty is only 20%, which actually isnt bad AT ALL!

Cheers,
Anayar

Yes, yes this is great indeed..

A lot better than BF3 who doesnt even release a sandbox or anything "it is too complex" - get out of here...

anyway: I am definitly going to have a play around with this as soon as i get my new computer^^ i remember stacking explosive barrels in the old one and then watching the laggy feast! xD

and for the record, I am a man.

Considering I have just gotten addicted to Crysis 2 on the XBox, this is very good news.

Me too. All I've got is my laptop I bought for writing and internet, not hardcore gaming or crazy mad game dev (yes, I did just use 2 words that shouldn't be combined in a sentence).

This is awesome news though, will be interesting to see what people create.

It looks ace! Never used one of these engines, is it like C++, or just drag, and drop, or what?

Ah, saw it, downloaded it, made my laptop crap trying to run it.
I can't wait till i get a Desktop.

My Mind is very odd, it can memorize hundreds of commands, memorize 2 dictionary's worth of words, and make detailed 3D models. Yet my mind has trouble with the most simple calculations.

I'm getting tired of it

Matter is energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively Theres no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and were the imagination of ourselves.

Even tho i have it and it is realy nice, and almost completed a whole level, i don't think it is a good idea to addvertise other game engines with links in it. as this is a well respected TGC/FPSC forum.

It takes the p**s! i mean you don't go into a Mini Car dealers show room and hand out flyers and addvertise for a BMW convertable now would you, come on respect for this forum,

@spudnick, chill dude, this is geek culture.
We talk about everything tech related here.

Sure if we went into the FPSC forum and were like "Hey guise this awesome 3ngine called CryEngine 3 is released! It's better than FPSC."

Tgc are not dumb, they know CryENGINE 3 is vastly more superior than FPSC.

Geek culture is a place where new stuff is shared by brilliant forum members to make other members more aware. It's a general geek board

Ummm, Lord Spudnick, are we banned from discussing blockbuster games, because people develop games here? Are we banned from discussing movies or music, because some people here create those as a hobby?

No. Stop preaching.

I suspect TGC don't have a problem with their customers seeking alternative products nor them knowing about them or discussing them. People will use what works best for them and TGC knows that, you're not going to hook anybody by disallowing them to discuss alternatives, whilst CryEngine 3 is superior as an engine it doesn't mean its superior for the user and that makes a big difference. It's why I'm STILL using TGC products, despite having tried (and paid) for alternatives. If a TGC product isn't right for me then I am going to seek an alternative, if I can't get the advice on their forum, there are forums out there than can provide me with advice.

Most honest forms of customer service will allow their customers to make an informed decision as opposed to a misinformed one. A misinformed decision can actually be bad business.

Besides, most people who move onto products like these started on TGC stuff anyway, especially DBP and FPSC...

Ouch, Harsh

I'll second that, I'm pretty much done with with TGC products, but I've certainly not regretted it for the most part, It certainly helps you grasp the basics
