It's been a while since I've graced these forums with my divine creations, so I have decided to be merciful unto you all.

TRANSLATION: I am working on a new model pack, and I am hoping this thread will keep me motivated to work, as well as provide some helpful comments and criticism from the delightful denizens of Apollo.

The theme for this pack will be warehouse media. Call it cliche, if you must. What makes this model pack different is that every model and texture will be professional quality, and no shortcuts will be taken. This means that the models can be rotated and used to your liking, and you won't be discovering any ugly sides to them. I want you to be able to do exactly what you want with these.

First, the obligatory in-game screenshot:

Nice work!

I just got 2 crits ;
1. The barrels all have that same patterned sractch in the top sector. THe one shaped like a Z.
2. On Barrel C, maybe use some custom brushes as it looks like you used the galaxy brushes that come with GIMP

P.S: Really loved that Office chair you put out a few years ago... Big thanks for that!

Cheers,
Anayar

1. They're all based on the same base texture, so there are quite a few similarities. I just wanted to offer a little variety!
2. No Gimp here, we are Photoshop buffs. Where on the model are you talking about?

Thanks man! I have an even better one that I might release down the road with some other office media.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Nice work dude. I have to say that the barrels look pretty good. I also noticed the texture similarities... but when was the
last time you played a game just to stare at the barrels in a level?

Not me. lol. I seriously doubt you need to change it. I wouldn't.

Whoever said that Intel graphics fail, obviously never owned a Core i5.

Thanks for the kind words.

@Astek: I think I might do a touch up to remove some of the most noticeable similarities, just because not doing so would go against the ideology of this pack.

Radio:

Comments / criticism? This is obviously a smaller object, so it has a lower resolution texture. To scale, it appears very high res and tasty. I'll put an in-game screenie up when I import it into FPSC.

Also, I am aware that the shadows up at the top (on the knobs and antenna) appear very harsh. This is due to a rendering issue, and I am too lazy to sort it out tonight. The actual texture has very smooth shadows up there.

By the way, I love your signature, Thraxas.

Thank you both.

This is an older texture of mine that I touched up for the purpose of this pack. I'm not sure if I ever used it in a game. Either way, even if you don't recognize it, good.

Again, comments and criticism are welcome. Nobody's saying anything bad about the models, so apparently they are absolutely perfect.

Nice job. the only crit I would have is for the recycle bins: The grungy parts of it would be at the handles and bottom edges of the bin, but you have it in the middle of the faces, where there isn't really any wear 'n' tear. Keep up the good work though.

In video games, everything is really grungy. But you are right, the handles and bottom edges would have more grunge than the rest, and right now, there's barely any. I'll look into revising that when I do the normal maps for these.

Cool I like the steps! Maybe you can make something a bit more original though, like say a computer control center. not anything to fancy, but the kind of stuff to control warehouse gear like cranes and other machines. just an idea. Keep up the work man!

Yeah, I'll see what I can do. Right now I'm just trying to get enough entities to make a basic warehouse scene, as well as some segments to go with that. Then we can start with the fun ones

Thanks everyone!

I make my own brushes for a lot of the scratches and things. I'm planning on making some tutorials on how to easily improve the quality of textures sometime down the road.

Nice work! I personally would rather that little grate in the ground texture be a overlay entity though.

Thanks for the kind words.

The variation thing is actually really useful, I'm surprised more people don't use it!

@EGG HEAD

If you can figure out how to make overlays not have shadows, I'd gladly change it to that. It just looks unrealistic with a big ol' shadow under it, you know?

Greetings inspire...and extra load of highpass sharpening on these textures would work some serious magic Keep it up!

And to turn off shadows I think you change castshadow=

I'm leaving that up to whoever uses the pack. Some people don't like the oversharp textures. So if they want them that way, they can add an extra layer of sharpening!

Quote: "And to turn off shadows I think you change castshadow="

Everybody keeps telling me this, that you change it to 0 or whatever, and this absolutely does not work. I have yet to see a single screenshot on this forum whatsoever of overlays without shadows.

But it's an honor to be compared to BBC2. Love that game.

Hey, sorry for the lack of updates for a while. I was in the hospital getting surgery, and couldn't very well 3D model with a scalpel in me.

Today I have for you pictures of a model/texture I just made, complete with an illumination map for all of your shader needs. Enjoy!

I'm recovering quickly, and I'm doing great. Results of the surgery were great, and I'm going to be very healthy for a very long time.

I digress. I was bored today and decided to come up with a variation on the CrateA model.

This is going to be dissapointing actually. Once all of this is completed and i want to add it to my game, it won't match with the other entities/segments. Since the quality of this stuff is so good it will look out of place XD

But great job man, love the light!
