With inspiration taken from a few forum projects and a few of my favorite adventure games from childhood, I've come up with the new MCS, Comic. 100+ Segments and Entity's designed...we'll see what I can do in two weeks. This will feature a more abstract comic style and yes it will have some color variations in media. Comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Issue 1: 5 Segments / 1 Entity

- Basic Interior and Table -

No time to stop, must continue the inspiration!

Looking forward to seeing this progress.

This looks great! If someone made a flatshader for fpsc you could translate this look to enemy entities. Kind reminds me of an old game called ZPC. Keepem coming.

Only one word to describe this... Epic. I was thinking the other day that we needed something besides realistic content. Excellent work!

I see wooden barrels being a brilliant example...

Thanks for the comments! Any suggestions for content now/

Black Fox:
Did you get my email? Or did I send it to Blue? :S Can't remember.

Disturbing 13:
I tried for the life of me a year back to get a working cartoon shader in FPSC, it just can't be done without messing with the source, something I want to avoid.

Pbcrazy:
Yah, I'm not a fan of realistic graphics. I like graphics with 'character'.

Issue 2: 6 segments

- Wallpaper Segments -

You sent it to me I did take time out to do as you had asked and sent a reply back. Did you not get it?

Ah, this reminds me of those funny pencil games you made(It was you, wasn't it? I can't recall the exact name). How about some cardboard box monsters? Just something weird that jumps at you if you feel like doing characters. ;]

Or if you're going for pure scenery, some simple office, sewers, castle or dungeon themes might work.. Or an outdoor scenery? I don't know, would be interesting to see this style applied to various genres though.

I was planning for a few genres and make a few characters / weapons to go along with the style.

Doing an 'home' set first, then I'll get into some outdoor urban and then we'll see from there.

Silvester:
I know what your talking about, but that was someone else. His game was a part of the inspiration for this set of media though.

FANTASTIC! I am a fan on non realism as well. To answer a question, there is a comic shader on the German forums, I'm not sure if he released the shader, its under the work in progress projects part of the forum. Suggestions for content, roads, buildings, cars street items etc, that way one can have inside and out. Hole punches, I love those as well. I hope you do some colour variants as well, Im also interested in what sort of characters and weapons you will make.

Love these bro!

Made similar ones in the past when trying to get a similar effect as an itouch game (samurai vengeance 2).

Can you do segments of different thickness, example if a wall is normally 10 units thick, do one 25, 50, 75 100, that way the fact that fpsc uses lots of square walls side by side isn't wasted, its also good to break up flat walls, by using segments of different thickness, it breaks up that box feel that a lot of fpsc levels have.

THOSE ARE AWESOME!!! i would like to see some....

1-BUILDINGS.
2-maybe a BIG DOCK AREA WITH CONTAINERS AND A CRANE AND FORK LIFT.
3-some old mobster cars.

isn't there a full screen black and white shader out there? using that could help when using stock characters.

Balconies and walkways for the side of a building, outside fire escape, that's what I meant. Perhaps looking at the video game Kingpin may help for ideas.

This is super cool stuff.
I know a guy a few years back that made a game called Pencil Whipped with the Pie GCS. The graphics were pencil drawn and imported into the game. The characters were 2 dimensional sprites that looked like they were cut out of paper as did all the objects in the game. It was a funny game to play. The weapons were as if you were holding a piece of paper made into a shotgun or pistol.

Anything is possible

Hey guys, thanks for the responses.

I'm writing down everyone's ideas and will do my best to get them built. Only giving myself two weeks to work on this. Will probably pick it back up later as the media is a lot of fun to create.

Oh, and this will be FREE!

great, i love this day-of-the-tentacle-style

have you thought about how characters will look? something strange like persepolis, d.o.t.t. or stupid-invaders would fit perfectly.

I was always under the impression that was your game.. How odd, I must have my memories mixed up then.

Nevertheless, this seems promosing.. Not to mention your current price tag. ;]

Issue 5: 1 Weapon

- Dagger -

...well, a little trouble getting this weapon to act like a dagger. First weapon for me, good learning experience otherwise.

Realy Cool, it remembers me of Kingdom Hearths, the level where mickey goes back in time and everything looks like a comic book. It looks totaly awesome, keep it up! When you think that it is ready?

Would fit perfectly for something like a hallucination scene or some sort of creepy horror sequence.
