I don't get why they just don't do it automatically and check all birthdays every day.

I don't get why the bother having child accounts at all. I always found a way to play and view mature content when I was younger. The child account non sense is just adding a false sense of security to the parents. Now they will think, "the xbox is all locked up of mature content so little Billy can never see the naughty things", which is completely incorrect.

On topic, I don't care. My Xbox broke so now I'm a PS3 man I do miss Gears of War 1 though

Maybe cuz some parents don't want their kids playing a certain class of games even at a certain age?

heheh, yeah... when they started that, I couldn't download M rated trailers - no bioshock trailers, no awesome game demos, no nothing! I just let my subscription run out. That's the last time I enter my real age into anything account. I TRUSTED YOU MICROSOFT!!!

They did mention that the birthday you used when you set up the account is set in stone. So if you accidentally put the setup date as your birthday you may have to wait another 8 years to be 18 in their eyes.

Yes I have it.

Personally I have no problem with the child accounts, they are useful for parents that want to keep an eye on their kids. They will always be needed, otherwise you would have 10 year olds playing on GTA, which in my eyes is a sign of bad parenting. The themes in those games are rated for over 18's for a reason.

However I don't think that simply using age to measure what should be blocked is correct or works. There are children that are much more mature than others and parents that are much more protective than others. There needs to be a more detailed way of blocking games, not only an age system. Not to mention the fact that any child determined enough can get past some Microsoft age block, it's been done so many times.

Hmm, perhaps if you had your games on a different platform, an open platform, one which is governed by no single company...
