That always gives me chills seeing them jump and fall. I guess the heat was so intense they would rather have a quick death than burn or die from smoke inhalation. Sadly, they also killed some people when they fell into them. I read that the first firefighter killed on 9/11 (and there were over 400) was actually killed when a jumper fell into him. Sad that he accidentally killed someone while killing himself, but the firefighter would have probably died anyways I guess.

Here's a clip from a documentary about it where they have footage from inside the North Tower: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avapThKUn3s&feature=related

EDIT: Another thing that puts my stomach in knots is the phone calls between dispatchers/family members and people in the towers waiting for help, listening to their last moments before they die. Like these:

Really horrible stuff.

I was 25 at the time when it happened. I had just turned on the TV while getting ready for work and and at the time it was still believed to be a freak accident. I watched the 2nd plane hit live and it was definitely chilling. I was definitely late for work that day because I was glued to the TV. When I got into the office everyone was watching there as well.

Several of my team members were from New York and the game we were developing ironically had Bin Laden in it so it hit us all a bit hard although we were on the other side of the country.

In the days that followed I was amazed and so proud of all the first responders and those helping at ground zero. But listening to all the paranoid and islamaphobic talking heads I couldn't help but to reflect that America had always been fantastically efficient when it came to disaster relief yet horribly inefficient and knee-jerk when it came to prevention.

Now, 10 years later it saddens me to think that arguably the greatest free nation on Earth has nearly destroyed itself because some yahoos spent a few thousand dollars on flight tickets and boxcutters. Just as saddening (frankly rage-inspiring) was reading last month that the real heroes of 9/11 aren't even allowed to attend the 10 year memorial ceremony. CNN link

I can't get my head around this...this makes no sense at all.

Wow, amazing what people have to say here. It's interesting to see where other people were when it happened.

What will bring me to tears is the people jumping out of the towers. Whenever I think of it, I always shove the video footage from my mind to avoid crying. It hurts that much.

Anyway, I just heard on the news that there is a car bomb threat in New York City, and they have "credible" information, some of which came from the raid on Osama Bin Laden's compound, that terrorists tied to Osama have interest in an attack on the date of 9/11. Let's pray that nothing comes of this.

Actually it makes perfect sense to me. They don't want them there because their all sick/dieing and they want to hide that fact from the public. Even the mass media doesn't want to cover their medical problems or the bill that was passed but gutted to only help with a few things rather than the main medical problem (cancer) that they all face.

I was very young at the time it all happened, i dont remember any of it... I do know however i do remember being very emotionally touched by watching videos later on... This thread has put me in a sad mood, but that only makes sense, right? The world's kinda messed up, that fact someone would run planes into towers... Either way, to all the people, dead or not, that tried their best to save others, i must say thank you, thank you very much. The death toll would be significantly higher without you... O my gosh... The second youtube video--the scream at the end as the building collapsed--i cant stop balling my eyes out--im a guy and have no shame admitting that..

This video is pretty touching too, it's the sound of the plane crashing into tower two...

There is one game i play, it has perfect looking raycasting and is rendered at a very high FPS real time. This game i find very fun. What is this game? This game is life on earth.

I hope so. Apparently there was a credible threat involving car bombs in NYC, but it's been intercepted and hopefully they've found enough to stop it.

And this is just disgusting, people hacked into NBC's account and tweeted that a plane had just hit ground zero. Why would anyone think that would be funny? They need to be put in jail for a long time.

I deleted the last 3 posts; don't do that again in this thread. It's not a joking matter.
