Hello fellow posters,

I was wondering if I can use images from The Game Creators newsletter as my avatar on this forum only without getting into legal trouble/getting a slap or ban. I would like something beyond the generic images provided by TGC. They're cool, but I would like something a little more... "original"

As an example, I have changed my avatar and made it the cover of the TGC Newsletter Issue 97. I went ahead and changed it after I saw somebody else use something from Issue 97 but then become concerned that it would be illegal/wrong. So is this okay?

Mods, you are welcome to give opinion! Also, Mods, if it is illegal/wrong for me to use the cover as my avatar, please go ahead and remove it for me. I may not check back on the forums for some time as I will be busy, but I will try to sneak a peek in at this thread tomorrow or maybe later.

I never asked for permission to use my avatar. I figure since it's hotlinked, if it was "illegal" then the image will be removed from the site it's on, and then my avatar will break

Edit:
And my sig was...mysteriously changed. Last thing I remember, I was reading a thread and then I forgot my name. I glanced upon a sig, and came to the realization that my name is Brian. Whoever you are rogue hero, thanks for helping me remember my name
