For some reason my YouTube videos that I watch wont buffer ahead, it buffers, but lets say I want to skip ahead to another part of the video, it just re-buffers instead of going to a pre-buffered and saved part of the video.

Details:

If you don't quite understand what I mean, I'm saying I don't have the light grey line in the time bar that indicates saved video, it just stays black, so I can't let videos "load ahead" as it always just stays and buffers as I watch, preventing my from skipping parts without waiting for it to re-start the whole buffering process (which is a pain in 720p/1080p).

Yeah, that happens to me too...without all of those plugins on Chrome. I think it's YouTube's new way of handling videos for whatever reason.

Yeah I upgraded to 10MB broadband to get instant videos, and they ended up slowing down over the years.

1. Try going to your adobe flashplayer's settings manager here:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager.html

Clear out sites under Global Storage Settings Panel -> Website Sotrage Panel.

2. Try increasing your Local Storage Settings for YouTube by
You may want to change your local storage settings if, for example, you want to allot more space for information from this website. To display the Local Storage Settings panel:

A.Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Macintosh) the application image (the Video) while it is running.
B.From the context menu, select Settings, and then click the Local Storage tab.

I know in the past I had issues with flash player getting slow or acting quirky over time. Had to go through a complet removal, cleaner, and reinstall. Not sure why over-time it does that.

If you're into experimenting you could try Firefox+GreaseMonkey and the following to see if it's really a buffering issue.

Works without issue for me at the moment, have you tried running with all of those plugins disabled to see if one of those might be causing the issue?

I had the problem a few weeks ago, but I restarted Firefox and it worked fine again.

I was having a similar issue today where it would start "lagging" or stuttering even though it was full buffered.

I found a solution, in the newest Google Chrome if you go to tools (the wrench) and near the bottom you'll see "View Background Pages" click on that and see if anything is running "hot". For me the shock wave was pretty high in the CPU area.
