Hello everyone, how are ya doing ?

Well I just wanted to ask a quick question.

Why are DBP exe's so big ?
I mean you can have a small exe with pck, though the pack just compensates for the large exe if compilied as a normal one.

I'm sure there is no need to have such big files.

Any answers are appreciated... ?

Every single function is compiled along with the EXE. At least, this is what happens with DB Classic. If you use v.1 to compile the same code and then upgrade it to 1.13 you will se a considerable difference.

This has "Fiasco" written all over it.

I think that there is a lot of debug code still in the compiled exe's. Eventually that will be taken out and our resultant exe sizes should shrink dramatically.

Take Care,

Ben

The sizes of the dlls will be coming down when Patch 4 comes out at Christmas time. A lot of code has been condensed and tightened up, so expect significant improvement soon.

Just to clarify, Patch 4 will reduce the size of a single DLL, though the remaining DLLs will remain the same size. There are plans to do a hack and slash optimisation on most of the large DLLs to reduce their size and speed them up further. This will be done once the main stability and functionality issues have been dealt with and the resounding community focus turns to speed!
