** Mod Delete **

This post promotes a website in direct violation of another companies copyright.

How exactly? The site would be vastly to a great many users here and has enough content to be genuine. Unless the guy doesn't post back any time soon, in which case it's likely to be a bot and a permaban wouldn't make a difference, then I commend him and think it's a great service.

The site looks very professional and the it seems to be a good service, but the guy joined the forums today. I would think it would be OK if it were a regular member, but joining/posting for the sole purpose of promoting your site or service is frowned upon.

Brian.

By whom? Offering a professional service to people in need of such a service shouldn't be frowned upon. It's also allowed if they contact the staff first, which he may have done.

I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and let the mods do their job.

Nice site.

Hey Guys,

We are merely offering our new launchpad services to game developers, and circumstances resulted in me creating a new account so I could post about it to you. I am sorry if we have offended some of you by posting on the forums, but since it's free marketing for game developers, I thought it had merit. I had a hard time finding a relevant category to post in, as many of the overall topics were game developer related.

Usually a lot of game developers have a hard time handling marketing and press releases, as their focus and abilities are geared towards making awesome games - that's why I chose to post about it here. Agreed, it's marketing, but it's free for now, and maybe some of you could really benefit from the offer?

We kick indies? I am not sure that I would trust a company who's slogan is We Kick Indies.

Sorry, doesn't really strike me as a good advertising choice. On the other hand, I certainly won't forget your website! * runs *

In relation to moderation, I think it's a bit of a grey area. This does look professional (mostly) and it's not the usual viagra spam, or money making spam. TGC doesn't offer a PR service, so it's not clashing products. But I'll raise this topic with the other moderators and we'll all have a look at the issue before deciding.

I hear you, but my first thought was !?!? I'm sure there's other literal minded twerps like me out there who'd see that as portentous. Epically at $95!

We Kick Start Indies, or We Kick Start, or perhaps The Best Kickstart! Sure, but your slogan sounds like you wish Indies deep violence

It has been up for discussion in-house so we may end up changing it

Our theme is fun and games and the slogan is not to be taken literally.

I know you're kinda pulling my leg, but fair if you find it portentous

I knew I was onto something... 'quick Snowy, sniff some more'

Maybe I should be awarded the 'Snooper Badge'

I eventually checked out the site... after much reluctancy and still found it to be a little cheesy... I understand it doesnt clash with anything... but the fact its apparrently a new member was fishy for me... and doesnt build much trust... Without sounding funny I am too looking to offer totally free services to fellow Devs on here and I think many know about it now... [many meaning at least 12], I am offering these services for free because the fellow Devs on here 'GIVE' a heck of a lot and are extremely helpful, without the support on here I probably might never have continued any form of game/app development so these forums are another home for me [not that if I were an MP I would claim expenses for it >.< {high five if you liked that MP crack lol]

I get the sense that you already had an account on here by the way you used the words...

So I and Snowy shall leave this to the mods to decide

Lets go Snowy time for another snoop around!

Nice, looking website, however they have registered nintendo characters on their graphics and ony 6 users. I doubt their understanding of copyright and trademark ownership.

great idea and people may want to pay to join when you have your foot in the door, however, they are not gonna pay for an obscure beginner company to write reviews for their software. I'm sure your intentions are good, its just reality. what are your licensing agreements with nintendo?
what is your reader base? I've never heard of you!

not baggin you out or drowning your dreams, it is just your priority to convince us, "your users" to believe that we need your help to promote our new game. I as a user see no reason to pay you. If you want to be taken seriously you need to sweeten the deal.

As said above, the website looks snazzy, but alarm bells rang when I saw mario! Plus, I'd like to see the guy reply to comments in this thread before I take it seriously, otherwise it feels too much like spam.

Ok I'm locking this thread. I didn't notice the copyright violations on their website because I'm using a low resolution netbook. I can't have users potentially paying nearly $100 to a group who don't understand basic copyright laws.
