Does such a thing exist.

What I want to do is run a usb cable from a device to my pc. I want my pc to emulate an external hdd to the device communicating on the usb interface. The device must think it has an external hdd connected to it, but I want to be able to manage this on my pc and use the storage space on my pc to do it.

It must run in windows 7. It can make the use of a pci card if needed. I've heard of something called a usb gadget interface but I can't find much info on such a beast and what I do find runs in linux.

Any help is appreciated.

whats the device? can you not run it as a usb drive?

try the storage snap-in and add it as a virtual drive...

I am still not sure what exactly your looking to do, but if you need an idea of what i said... let me know and screenshots away...

The device is a media player that I can hook up external harddrives to. However, I don't want to hook up an external harddrive, I want my HTPC to have some software which allows my HTPC to pretend it's an external harddrive.
