Finally found time away from game dev to finish this tune. It's horrible dark evil drum'n'bass that none of you will like, but I'm throwing it out there for the 0.1% chance that someone likes evil electronica like I do!

Get a pair of clean pants ready.

I'm listening to it as we speak, what did you use to create it? how much of it is sample and how much is original sound engineering? I'm a sound engineer myself, and have a picky ear. It sounds good and I love dark music.

cool it just got interesting, im gonna comment more after you comment back so I know where we're both at.

I'm at least willing to say "good production work" at this stage.

Well, that's a tough question to answer. It's entirely sample based, but none of the samples are loops. They're all individual hits which I then modify extensively. All drums, melodies etc are progammed. The exceptions are the speech samples from Hell Raiser and some atmospherics from Sleepy Hollow and Orphanage.

I'm glad you like your dark sounds though! It's normally dark metal that people are into. Not electronica.

well, if you programmied it yourself and used your own samples then I say well done! I like the dynamics, you open and close your sections well eg. "welcome to hell", nice use of dynamic range, especially with you main lead bass synth, nice highpass filter work with those dynamic shifts. Nice drum samples, and i like the eerie choir synths you got overlaid. nice use of eq's and the whole mix is generally well mixed.

if you dont mind me asking... what software did you use to create it?

Hey, Fallout, that's a pretty nice job you did there! I was thinking it was maybe a bit repetative across the 6.5 minutes but, it hit me that this would make gorgeous game-background music. Wow, forget my second comment, it would just fill in so flawlessly. If I had my hands on something like this I could make great use of it, nice job!

Not usually my type of music, but I actually really enjoyed this, or should I say, I am still enjoying this. xD I agree that it would make a brilliant backing track for a game.

@Kezzla - Thanks for the kind comments mate. I'm glad you think the mix seems good. I normally struggle a bit there.

As for the software, I usually side step that question because of the fact I still use tracking software. But since you asked twice I use Skale tracker for the sequencing. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but I've been using trackers since '95. Despite trying to change to Fruity Loops, Cubase, Logic and even Ableton Live, I'm still way more productive in a tracker ... so I always end up back using my medieval software.

@Swissolo - thanks man. You couldn't really use this in a game because of copyright infringement. Too many samples from films! But I've written a few tracks for people's games. Always up for writing for the right projects (i.e. those that are actually about to be finished!! )

@Indicium - Thanks for the comments too mate. Hopefully I will slowly convert everyone to my evil ways!!

Don't wear 'em mate.

Good track, would be great in a game (though for obvious reasons you can't), I can already see it in a Hellraiser game made in the style of the Doom and Quake games. Dark = good and not all electric music is crap , so you've not lost us by introducing us to something that we'd beat to death with a stick. (On which note, can you beat sound waves with a stick?)

I'm a mehtul head \m/ *headbangs* \m/! And there's electric stuff I like. Industrial is something you might call 'dark electric', goths love the stuff...however, I went through a Combichrist phase last year, maybe you'll like them too.

Perhaps you're secretly a goth and have been trying to hide it from us with your fancy talk of Nissan Skylines and Football made with fat people.

The song was definitely well put composed, here are my ratings:

technical perspective : 8/10 (well composed, good work )
personal perspective : 6/10 (While I do like to listen to DnB, this song was too dark for my taste.)

Good job!

@Sep - Thanks man. I reckon a hell raiser game would be awesome. Imagine a proper horror game where you actually spend your time walking around hell watching people get disembowelled? Not sure if you could truly recreate the hell raiser atmosphere though.

As for being a goth, there is one major flaw in that theory ... I hate vampire movies. As far as I am aware, all goths have to dream about being a vampire. I think vampires are a bunch of bum shoe.

@TheComet - Cheers dude. I'm glad you appreciated it! And yes, it's a dark one. Mwahahahahaah.

Hehe. Got your friend request! I've been writing music for longer than i've been making games. i think i started putting music online in the late 90s. YouTube just has a small selection. (The utter shoe has been excluded for quality control purposes).
