Hello forums,

I am thoroughly sick of the FPSC weapons in their current state; they are not good compared to the old ones. The old ones fired much faster and the sounds were in sync. Now, the sounds are played slower, the ammo counter says the gun is unloading much faster than it sounds, and the recoil is just a little too much!

So, enough ranting and complaining! Let's do something and fix this! But...

I need some help. I have made myself very sick of trying after taking half the day and only figuring out how to make the ammo counter go slower. If you can help with trying to fix this issue, it would be much appreciated. Here are a few key things that I think control these things so far:

FIRERATE
FIRELOOP
Number of frames in firing animation

I am confused as to which of the first two control sound and which controls ammo usage -- or if they are intertwined. I have not tested the third idea yet but I suspect that the max speed at which a firing sound is played is tied to the number of frames in the firing animation. I believe if there are fewer frames, the sounds will play faster. I still have not found where the recoil command is, but hopefully more careful searching of the gunspecs will reveal that.

Please help if you can. If you do not want to, I completely understand. It is a rather annoying pain to tweak something in the file, with no idea that it will work, test it, find out it doesn't work, and then go back to the drawing board.

You may be wondering why I don't just go back to v1.17. I actually thought about that, but with the new model packs requiring v1.18, as well as the great effect 1.18 has (such as water), it's worth trying to make the guns work.

Any and all tips and help are appreciated.

Thank you,
Captain Coder

Fixed it!

Here's what I did: in the Ccommando gunspec, I went to "HUD animation frames list" and then found "automatic fire." I changed the starting animation frame numbers and the ending animation frame numbers. The result? A very fast-firing automatic weapon! The only con that I can see is that the animation are a bit more jerky since I took out some of the played frames. But it still looks cool. If I knew where I could find a good free screen recorder I'd take a video, but I haven't found one - yet. Any suggestions?

@Exu Corporations: Exu! How are you?

Sorry you couldn't help - but thanks for offering! It's the thought that counts, right? BTW, LOVE your website! How much did it cost to setup? What screen recorder do you use, it looks quality.

Thanks!

Im doing fine! Thanks for asking ;D

And yeah i haven't touched my website in a while sadly, im going to do a complete remodel of the site when i get the chance. Just school is taking up so much time, it is hard to work on it. I haven't even had time to work on my actual game in a while..

It was free to set up, it uses a free website hoster. I just used a URL hider instead of using the actual URL the hoster gave me.

As Flame has said, i use FRAPS. I record my games at 1280x720 resolution, 60 framerate usually, and full sized (that's a fraps setting). I then proceed to uploading the video into Camtasia Studio or Adobe Premiere and edit it from there. Then i export it as a .wmv (.mov gives me an error for some reason..) and all of the settings are all set. And then i upload it to youtube

How have you been?

One of the many sad truths of life But hey, it should pay off in the end, right?

I'll try out your host sometime and see if it suits my needs. Website does look good! Is there a cap on your demo/game hosting?

Are you using the free or full version of Fraps?

BUSY! Haven't had much time to work on any good quality game; in fact, my brain is in a bit of a grid-lock over creating new art (which I am new at ) for my games. Thanks for asking!
