i just got a new pc,the screen resolution is 1920x1080.
it says thats recommended.my question is wouldnt it be easier on the screen, use less power & keep my screen lasting longer if i had it at a lower resolution like 1024x768??

why is the highest setting recommended?

I would just keep it at the default resolution, because, and to answer your questions in order

1. No
2. No
3. No

, but! If you use a lower resolution in a game, it does perform better (at the cost of looking better), but that's not really the same for your OS (less resolution doesn't make your computer go faster).

I am not a fan of MLP , but that's just me

When the computer freezes, it becomes very cold.
Go touch it, and see for yourself.

The highest setting is recomended because it represents the "correct" resolution for your monitor (in accordance to fitting pixels in correctly) Your monitor just displays what it receives, so the rest is irrelevent (unless you're talking computer cycles of course)

Modern graphics cards run better at higher resolutions in a lot of cases. I didn't believe it myself, until I ran gta4 at a higher resolution and got 5 more FPS out of it

it depends on your screen. Most screens you dont have to worry about that, but my old IBM thinkvision monitor 1600x1200 has some burnin issues. even patterns from screensavers get burned in.

But the funny thing is in order to find out if keeping the screen on is bad for the monitor, you actually need to keep it on for several days and see what happens. if you wanna be safe, sure, just set it to power down after a few hours

dont hate people who rip you off, cheat and get away with it, learn from them
