Is there a good reason why hardly any of the videos or images are visible in my copies of the newsletter? It's been happening for several months but on this occasion virtually nothing of interest shows up.

This may be a browser issue - but even if it is shouldn't the Newsletter be distributed in a form that works with all the standard browsers?

Perhaps it's a setting somewhere? Suggestions welcome (I use IE8 and this is the only web content that doesn't display for me).

Edit Problem may be solved! It seems that if I save the email message containing the newsletter as HTML then everything shows up when I open the HTML file. Seems a rather roundabout way of doing things. Why not simply email the link?

Saving as html doesn't work for old newsletters though - I just get a lot of 404 errors. Anyone know how to view old newsletters properly?

Edit2 OK. It seems that some of the more recent newletters saved on my machine will open correctly if I open the old eml file and save it as htm. It's just the older ones that have broken links. I still think it would make sense to simply email the link though rather than risk using an unusable eml format.

Hopefully someone other than me will find this useful.

On a more positive note, all this was sparked by Bond1's video which I couldn't view. Now that I've managed to view it - VERY nice.

Edit3

For the record - I've now solved that problem too (the copies available on this site work fine). Just spent a happy hour or so browsing loads of old newsletters. I'd recommend everyone to do the same from time to time. Loads of useful interesting stuff there.

I'll confirm with Rick that we should put the link to the web-based newsletter at the top of the mail. You often see "If you can't see this email, click here".

Well it certainly explains why I see him during the middle of the day when the rest of the UK is asleep.

Another fantastic read BatVink!

Something like that would certainly help idiots like me who don't realise that the email version of the newsletter could be saved and then opened as htm.

Lovely read again, guys! I'm sure it's not easy to get enough stuff to put in the Newsletter, so well done again!

I do miss some of those nice game making tutorials, though. Hope that changes soon.

Cheers

Rule 4 is hilarious

Then & Than
THAN: Unlike then, than is not related to time. Than is used in comparative statements.
THEN: Then is used either as a time marker or with a sequence of events.

I know what I meant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And yes it was Rule 3

Although, the differing opinions things is funny in its own way. There's only a few opinions on here that count.

I'm offended by rule 3 and request an exemption.

Rule 3 is not offensive unless you like watching ponies on youtube

Obviously I'm one of the other two...

Me and the spam bots who I chat to in the post approval list. They tell me about wedding dresses, shoes & great opportunities for me to earn money by just giving someone my bank details and passport information.
