Geek Culture / Odd sounds from headset

I'm getting a few odd sounds coming from my headset, low static beeping and buzzing. The only thing that is different is a new graphics card.

I have on-board sound, no sound card. Never heard this before today.

Also, if I touch the output jack to the metal near the jack ports I can hear the sound a lot louder. Any ideas what could cause this?

Is it an old headset? I've had similar experiences on old headsets which were about to die.

Then & Than
THAN: Unlike then, than is not related to time. Than is used in comparative statements.

No it's quite new, its a turtle beach X11 headset.

Anyway, I fixed the problem. Seems to some how have been a grounding problem, at least I think it was. I took the card out along with some other unused hardware, left it powered off for 5-10 minutes, replaced the card, powered it up and it stopped the weird hissing and buzzing noises.

It was either a grounding problem or the PSU was being over worked with the hardware I removed.

my last computer was about 4 year old, with an soundcard built into th emotherboard or w/e
it started making very quiet buzzing noises when i had the volume up higher

rather weird but iam fairly sure it was the motherboard about to die..
