Hello fellow FPSC users,

I have been playing around with the Modern Warfare Community Pack weapons, and have decided to make VWEAPs (which the pack did not come with ) for them so that characters could hold them. What I am doing is take the pick-up entities that came included, rescaleing and aligning them for characters, and re-exporting and copying them to the appropriate weapon folder.

I decided to do the AK-47 first, and it went super-well, considering all I had to do was rescaleing and realigning. I am now trying to do the M82 Barrett (my favorite! ), but no matter what I do, the VWEAP doesn't show up! To see if the AK would give similar results, I took away all the textures. The weapon appeared as a grey shape. I am baffled by what is happening (as not even a grey shape is appearing) and am very annoyed. I don't know what is different about the Barrett and its files compared to the AK-47 and its files. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the help!

Could you post a screenshot of what is happening or what you are doing to the Barreta mate?

Cheers,
Anayar

The problem doesn't really require a screen shot - the vweap just is not showing up! I do not know why. I will attach a picture of the character with an AK though and I might stop by later with a pic of the Barrett, but I've got a lot to do, so it may be awhile.

Thanks!
Captain Coder

NOTE THAT THE AK-47 PICTURE IS AN OLDER ONE AND IS NOT THE FINAL VERSION I MADE(and thus does not look as great as the current one).

Sorry to hijack the thread, but since we are on the subject, I didn't want to make a new thread.

My problem is that I can't use the weapons. I place the entity from the library (yes it's dynamic and all the scripts are in place), and when I pick it up, it says "Picked up a weapon" but it is not in my weapon "inventory" and I can't use it.

I don't mind as long as people still will answer my answer my question. It's good not to clutter the forums.

Check your weapon's FPE, and look under ";Identity Details".

Under there, look for "isweapon =" and see if it refers to the proper gamecore folder. If you renamed any of the folders, then you will have this problem. I renamed them for the sake of better organization, and I was sorry I did.

Let us know what happens!

And somebody see if they have any solutions to my problem too!

Thanks,
Captain Coder

Thanks, I'll try that.

Regarding your problem, it may not be just your gun, some entities in the pack also appear transparent like that.

I haven't checked for an alpha channel, and I don't know what you're up to (I have never had to touch alpha channels). What should I change if I find it black?

Thanks,
Captain Coder

Delete the alpha channel or change it white.

@Dark Frager: Did my idea work?

you can define transparency with alpha channel. totally black means 100% transparency, totally white means no transparency.
so when the alpha is completely black, nothing would show up.

just for explanation.

if gimp works like photoshop, look for a window "channels" or search wich windows you can open. should be there anywhere.

Thanks Anayar.

Well, it seems like everything I do fails.

One of the things I noticed was that the D2 did not have an alpha channel, while the regular diffuse did. Odd. Anymore ideas?
