Foreword:

Alright folks, some of you might have seen this coming so here it is.
I know I promised to come back with a demo and thats what I have been crafting around like a lunatic the last few days since I didged Shavra.
However, I have to completely reinstall my OS, do backups, build in new hardware and not setting my computer on fire if possible. So in case I lose my files, I want to have this here as a monument because I am a bit proud of all the ideas that I worked into this game and I want this thing on here and your opinion.
The demo is actually almost done so it will be here as soon as possible.
I have absolutely no idea how long it will take me to get my computer up and running again. I might be back tomorrow or it might be a vacation from the internet for a week.
So I hope you can all live with another work in progress thread.

Gameplay:

Alright, now I know that a lot of you don't read this whole text and most of you check out the screenshots first I just hope that the majority of my fellow developers here read this... so I put in a little.. subconcious eyecatcher. tactical llama genital bomb do I have your attention? No?... dang. Anyway: This is not a shooter. At all.
I'm aware that it looks just like one of my my shooters but it isn't. ...at all. I go all out adventure on this thing. Of course, it has gunplay here and there but most of it isn't. So please don't give me any "oh! another corridor horrorshooter, how unoriginal...baaaah!" because its not, this baby has a really developed storyline and you will discover it INGAME. No Virus, no zombies, no secret bioweapons, no alien-necromorph-thingies.

>>> .70% recycled from Shavra. <<<

I have this story thing in a codesnippet because its mostly prestory and roughly written. And I'm really tired now...my bed is calling me already.

Please read only if you have a very high tolerance level for awfully formated text.

You can keep any grammar mistakes you can find, no porto.

Now some images :

Screenshots

Same point of view...just showing off Errants fantastic Glock with texture mods.

Jupp! Please give me some thoughts on this and I hope to see you people soon. Thanks for your time, hope you haven't given up on my games

take care

This looks realy good, Though it hasn't got that "Wolf look" to it, wich may be a good thing... Hopefully this won't turn out like Shavra!

Looking forward to seeing the progress on this!

Well done Wolf, you've done it again!

I saw some of these in the gallery section and instantly thought, "that's Wolf.........No......it has to be........"

Definately has a Wolf feel to it.

Very nice.

Can't wait to watch this grow. Fingers crossed you don't run in to any problems. I would really like to play this one.

Unfamillia.

I was googling Pimp...and I'm sure you mean it in a good way but... what kind of people are these?!

Quote: "Though it hasn't got that "Wolf look" to it"

What exactly is that anyway?

Not likely I was really thinking this thing through and came really far with scheduled and organized development

It makes me happy to see that my work has recognition value.

Looks like my hardware gets shipped tomorrow, not today

Looks good, will be interested to see how the adventure elements work. Are you planning to have multiple solutions? The usual problem with adventure games is their replayability.

@Uzi Idiot: Thank you! Yes, I'm aiming for an unused gamefeel with this (in FPSC)

@3Bit: You know what?I agree! I'm going to redo that thing ASAP

@Ched 80
Quote: "Are you planning to have multiple solutions? "
: Yes 2 Examples To open a door, you can search a fitting keycard or use a techdriver kit to pick the lock
To get past a maintenance fan, you can throw in a metal rod or deactivate it on a terminal. I plan on adding a lot of little alternative solutions. Only little ones though, these puzzles are new territory for me and my trusty old FPSC installation

Quote: "The usual problem with adventure games is their replayability."

Hmm...I don't really worry about that. This isn't an AAA Game, I want this to be a fun ride and leave a remaining impression, not something to be playd multiple times.

Thank you! No mods, demo will come out this year

Well I'm "so-so" on this development. I will not jump all over the place excited or flip doing cartwheels like others here. Not because it is not good- it's just because you're Wolf, and I'm Fox

Kidding. It looks good, and you seem to have a flare for the screens. Nice work.

Seems very Dead Space inspired, but looks fantastic. Your work always has a distinct level of emotion and devoted work to your craft. I also love the dominant use of blue light on grungy metal, there's a very abandoned, but almost foreign look. The environment kind of brings a symmetry to the characters amnesia from cryo sleep in the story.

Interested in seeing more Wolf

Cheers.

Nothing like a cold one after hard labour. Well, I'm not going to nuke dead-space with FPSC, but for 3 Dollar, I hope I can sell a few copies Thanks!

Quote: "Why do I even bother if you enter this into DTO Kravenwolf is your only competition I'm sure most of us will be crushed like pancakes!lol. "

Hey! Its okay to be a pancake. ...now I'm just kidding, I will most likely not enter the DTO, because I haven't seen the tiny little fineprint that says there has to be a WiP thread on the 5th november

Quote: "Seems very Dead Space inspired, but looks fantastic."

Its System Shock and somewhat Solaris inspired, but yes, also Dead Space flew in. I really like it, they focused a lot on the ship and how it works/feels. But then again, Bond1's characters do almost look like the deadspace enemies, I will most likely get a lot of dead space comparisons on this.

Ah yes! We think a lot alike. As the game progresses, it will become daylight outside and you can see the venusian orange/mysty athmosphere lighting everything in unnatural colors, symbolising the fear that slowly becomes rage and how much closer you get to escaping your nightmare.

But I'm getting pretentious

Yeah, I particulary like the post processing, it has a really cool effect if you use warm lights on the cold post. Feels alien

Alright, I'm going to insert new graphics and sound card and a new HDD now...and a new OS... wish me luck, this might go horribly wrong folks...

Really, really nice screenshots! The pose, the half zombie is hanging from the ceiling is a little bit unrealistic, but OK. I really like those "futuristic" floating HUD's!

Good point, never actually thought about either of those titles. Unfortunately, no matter really what you do these days there is bound to be something that it resembles in story, or in visuals. All around this still has that Wolf feeling though, so as long as you produce work you're happy with and have fun playing, you've succeeded - because we'll most likely have fun with it!

The progression in environment and plot sounds very intriguing, I'm really looking forward to seeing how that pans out.

Good luck on your hardware overhaul

Life would be much easier if I had the source code.

The PIMP I was telling about is the "PIMP" that means, make it a masterpiece, have you watched the tv series, PIMP my ride? It is where they make the cars super cars and cool looking cars. That's what I mean about it. So it means that your level designs are as great and as cool as a masterpiece.

By the way, want this one to be featured in my site also? I will be glad to feature this one and put the demo link on the demo page, just like what I did with Euthanasia, www.rwsbgames.com visit it so you can check it out, just message me if you want to change some posts about your game.

Hey wolf, its good to see you are back, there is imo something about this atmosphere that screams PREY and to me that is awesome because I have played that game back to front 3 times and still get lost on each retry lol, I keep expecting to see slot machines, and pinball machines pop up lol.

This project looks very interesting and I cannot wait to play this.

Yes, but as long as it are good games, I'm taking it as a compliment. No one ever compared my games to ET the game, DMZ north corea or "Beyond the Beyond".

Quote: "All around this still has that Wolf feeling though, so as long as you produce work you're happy with and have fun playing, you've succeeded - because we'll most likely have fun with it!"
I certainly hope so Its coming along well so far, even though I only work 15 minutes a day on it concentrated because ...lets face it...SKYRIM!

Quote: "I'm really looking forward to seeing how that pans out."

And I'm really looking forward to see wether or not I suceed at telling a somewhat convincing story. But I'm already glad you are interested in the game, folks.

Succeeded and is up and running again. Thanks!

Thanks! Well, there won't be any Prey'esque gameplay in this though Wow! Quiet a few games this seems to resemble.

I think not wolf, compare to other games here, although I do not want to compare, however if we will just compare it just now, this time only, I guess, yours is really great. I am not a good judge in terms of looking to peoples game and graphics however, I always tell people what I really think of something, And for me I feel that your level designs are masterpieces knowing your only using fpsc. For me they are good... And that's what matters...

I am sure everyone will agree with me, if there is someone who will not, then, it's their opinion, but for me it's really a masterpiece.

Have a great day wolf, and hoping all the best for this game.

The full version will cost 3 Dollars, but there will be a free demo aswell.

Best luck with that stuff...but allow me to suggest you to focus on a single programming environment only

You certainly wonder why I keep yappering around in this thread without posting any significant updates. Well, I wasn't in a geeky mood the last few days and I'm having some issues with the visual effects. Its likely that the game will look less good as I rush to the demo. Other reasons are skyrim and a new job.
Particulary Skyrim as I'm onl on PC's at evenings anyway...but now I'm tired aswell. You are tearing me apart Lisa! (you can figure that last one out for yourself)

Here is an idea: why not starting a PSISHOCK development week where I present updates every day. Push that little game a little, shall we? I give you full insight in what I did and how and lets see how far we get within 1 week? like for Thanatophobia.

Alright, I gave it 45 minutes this evening after that, my slight headache turned into a major torment and I decided to drink tee and relax to some music instead.

Nothing fancy happened, I just realised that a great idea I had for a map got crushed by the memorycap and is more or less just a leftover now ...that will be most likely replaced in the final version. I didn't get much done today, but you can see a screenshot anyway as promised. Even though it doesnt actually show anything interesting:

i do have to say wolf you are blooming good at this game making malarky,
its hard for me to find the time, and to make a game good it is attention to detail and lots of prep work, anyway awesome images, keeps me going seeing your work.
well done.
anyway to a fellow roleplayer ( what systems did you use?)

anyway

p.s. i am like you on the 'stories unravel ingame',i think it is much better that way, a brief explanation of who you are or why your where you are, or none what so ever as in amnesia, more mystery etc, i put a vague description on twin worlds more for something rather than nothing, anyway i am intrigued on this game now, curiousity killed the gamer.

I'm back! Sorry for not updating anything yesterday, but I had a long shift and a few deeds to do at home.

This evening I was making the HUD Display System.
A little Introduction: As you wake up from cryostasis you are wearing a cryosuit, which is as homoerotic as those skintight biking suits...which is why you never see it, however, later you'll find the ISTHAR MARK III Protective suit for dangerous environment mining. Actually I named it a lot cooler but the file is stile on the external HDD. So I'll just role with this.

However, its a multifunctional suit for underground mining on venus providing a lot of protection including... ah! You know what: Its Half Life² crossed with Dead Space and a lil extra bacon.

Still: you find the suit first and it projects a simplified hologram in fron of your eyes monitoring your health. You'll later find the helmet which is not only a plotdevice for being able to enter zones with unstable lifesupport but also helping me on developing the demo faster as the simplified HUD does not have so many messages. Ah yes, what I really wanted to tell you: The Helmet has a much better HUD.

This one has been made in PSPX within a half hour ... and it kinda shows, but I go with it.

CHECK IT OUT

Dynamic HUD's kinda became a trademark of my games since Euthanasia, so I keep that up. Maybe I'll make it smaller, we'll see about that.

So yes, that HUD is all for today.
Hey! I'm no wizard delivering some new levelshots every day. Look, I work one hour a day on this game. And today it was HUD time.
...bah! Okay, here is a montage of images I didn't use in the first post. Just to make this more entertaining:

FAILURE of the day: Super flaming Muzzleflash

Yes, even though most I use in this game has been made for former titles such as "Symbiotic" or "Shavra-Series". Still, its best to split gamemaking in sessions: One evening you do props, another one sounds and yet another one levels... some day its done XD

Quote: "anyway to a fellow roleplayer ( what systems did you use?)"

I started as a kid with the german boardgame talisman and played dungeons and dragons with my best friend as a young teenager later, we didnt really like it though. I played some "Das schwarze Auge" later but it never really esthablished itself. But still, painting the figurines taught me a lot about art and that was worth something. Since them I'm only playing them occasionally in videogames

Yes! I have no idea if the storytelling will push players on to keep playing and if its interesting, I'm really pumped to see how much I can do with very little, because I really am kind of rushing to finish the demo this year before christmas.
It IS Possible that the full version will be rather different though.

Just holler, I upload a full size image

@DarkJames: Wow! People still remember that Disasterpiece game? I hope not ... after the bashing I received from the italian church.

But hey! Glad you like the new style

Because it looked different in the editor. It looks too unrealistic for a handgun. I attached it to this post in case you want to use it.

Hi Wolf, I just made you a valued member. I see that it takes away your best of the best badge. I'll ask Paul if we can show both.

You're a great game maker, you make FPSC look amazing!

Nice idea Wraith Staff, that's a quick and easy solution. I'll get Paul and the art team on to it.

Thank you very much!! I didn't expect this to happen because, to be honest, I didn't release as free media as Henry, Cosmic, Bond and co. But I'm more than happy having received the medal of honor of the TGC Community.

Thanks for all your congrats as well So lets make some games for 2012, shall we?

I'm back! My computer broke down recently and I just have my new rig all set up. You know, If you take a break for a week and get back to your stuff... building a level and taking a look at it... Man! It just looks fantastic. Seriously, I'm really statisfied of the blueish over the top sharpened visuals of this game

thanks to ertlov who gave me a little "denkanstoss" as we say in german it will also run very smooth as the levels do not flood the memory cap this much anymore. In fact, the demo is coming along nicely. I lost the intro video though so I have to remake it. I bet you guys like it as noone has done something like that before in FPSC and I believe its a great introduction to the games storyline.

I also made some simple artwork for the game which is attached. Nothing special though.

Yeah! Just wanted to let you guys know that this is rolling again.

Depends on what it is. Hard-Core Zombie Project had a live-acted video that told the story before playing. It was very gripping and visual.

@Astek: No its not like that... its a lot cheaper and cheesier,actually...but still cool!

Remember when I told you I would never make a game as dark and scary as Euthanasia? ...I lied.

Doesn't he look just freakish trying to crawl out of that maintenance shaft to go Bruce Lee on your butt?

No, its a directed screenshot, its actually stuck there. But I had you for a moment, right?

I had a total gamemaking day...today. But I also made a nice sunny courtyard in UDK (you remember that sucky courtyard from relict? Its awesome now.) ...not a complete psycho

Switching between editors is really a culture shock, believe me. I had 2 hours of UDK today 1 hour FPSC and 1 hour doing just crap on my computer. And whenever you just had a solid hour in one particular software you automatically try to use the same commands in another.

Yeah, thats boring...what am I typing here? So about the game: Its coming along, its scary and has a lot of blue stuff in it. There really isn't any new info except for the fact that its ...evolving.

So thats that. Its still going to cost 3 Dollars though

Okay, say bye creepy thing from the shadows.

I know, it looks like David Lynch'es porn...just try imagining it saying bye in a cutsie voice That makes it so much more bareable...
