Just to let you all know that my Coding Cookbook is now available at http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/njkatunmapdotcom

Whilst DBPro code is no the major part of the book (it does have a fair few of my old routines), if the book is successful I would like to do another one with the source code from my DBPro plug-ins.

I'll check it out today.

.................................

Ironically,, I've been considering something akin to a 'Cookbook' or 'Gems' book for DarkBasic Pro.

A 'DarkBasic Professional: Codex'

It would be a quintessential selections from the Code Snippets board, the Codebase, and threads. The selections should be a variety of uncommon, imaginative, significant, rarely documented, and innovative. Selections could be code snippets, ideas, best practices, algorithms, approaches, optimal solutions etc... specific to DBpro.

An example would be IanM's discoveries that randomize timer() [something that most of us use or have used regularly to "seed" the random generator]; actually results with less-random behavior.

I'm still thinking about doing it. I just know that it will require a good amount of care and time to construct a Codex that is functional, efficiently simple to index, accurate, and comprehensive enough to be considered exceptional to the DBpro community. The information would need be proof-read & tested to ensure that code can compiled without error with the current version of DBpro. I think the more difficult task may be determining whether a given selection is relevant with regard to current trends as well as updates/changes to DBpro.

Thanks for that! You still remembered me then, both of you!
