I'm a professional DJ and want to add a little spice to my performaces by going for the whole sci-fi/future look. I'm getting a multi-touch dj system, but I also want to create a DJ mask. Here is an example of a DJ mask:

What I'm wondering is if there is any way to trigger pointer lasers, an odd request I know, but ill explain:

I want to gut the heck out of this helmet and customize it:

2 pointer lasers placed on the sides of my head inside the mask (to the side of my eyes). I don't want the lasers to be constantly on and I want to try and avoid having to tape the button down. Does anyone know if there is a way to make a switch that can toggle 2 lasers on and off?

If anyone has any suggestions regarding hardware, or anything, because I am dead clueless on this, please help me.

Thank you.

All this would take is a ground wire and a live wire with a switch, nothing more.

you have two wires going into the switch. Take out the switch (a little button on most laser pointers I've seen), replace the two wires with two longer wires (twist each new wire with each old wire, then solder them together), and connect each wire to a new switch, in the back of the helmet (or wherever you want it).

A switch is what stops the current from the live wire, the live wire is usaly red and this is the wire you will connect to your lazer on one end and the switch to the other, the ground wire is so you dont fry your head.

the ground wire is not always needed but I would use one just in case.

does your lazzer have a power supply? if not for something like this I would rig a battery pack to the lazzers and the new hot wire. You need to ask some one else to do it for you I think.

You have a wire going from the battery pack to the light. Then a wire going from the battery to the switch, with another wire from the switch going to the light.

If you wanted to take it further without over-complicating, you could attach both lights and a simple timer to control on and off for each, along with the first switch for general on and off.

That actually made me lol, because I thought you were talking about the mains, and that would obviously kill him xD

You are joking, right?

About what? its a basic wire set up, one wire is hot and the other is a ground hooked up to one side of the power and the other side to the switch and making a loop like in the good refrence above is what i ment in the first place.

And I will also add if all you are using are batteries then no, this would never kill you, a good shook is all.

That must have been what thecomet was thinking of xD

but what kind of laser pointer plugs into a wall? It wouldn't be very easy to point it at things.

I'd personally use LED's. Laser's are a straight beam and can only be seen if your fogging up the place(well that might be what your going for). LED's are what you see in the Daft Punk helmets. You could easily build a timing circuit and make some cool strobing effects if you wanted.

I will be fogging up the the place, and as for all of this...ehh...it would help if I got the lasers, so for supplies I need:

- two pointer lasers
- live wire switch?
- ground wire?

If I got lasers, what would you recommend? And would someone be willing to do a tutorial on making this?

you will need:
two laser pointers (or LEDs, whatever you decide to use)
battery pack
in case you mess up, 2 feet of basic electrical wire
basic switch
soldering equipment

I might make a tutorial for you. That or I will link you to one.
