Hey, I have some invisible walls, but when you shoot at them, you still see bullet holes on the invisible segment. How can I fix this? Thanks

I don't think you can without a mod, I think the bullet holes are hard coded into the game engine, I may be wrong.

I think you can change the properties of the invisible segment to fix this. Hang on.... I'll look it up.

............

Try changing the segments material index to 7. I think that one uses no decal.

@xplosys

That is what I have heard but it has never worked for me.

I made this a while back. Sorry don’t remember what modeling program I used. It seems to have something to do with the mesh itself.

The attached download is a wall segment that doesn’t show bullet holes.

I use invisible walls and floors myself; xplosys was on the right track, but it's a material index of 0. This works for me and eliminates bullet holes.

No problem, Eggie.

The segment in my download above uses material index 0. But when I use the attacked mesh it shows the bullet hole. If anyone has another explanation why when using the same segment (fps) file, one mesh shows bullet holes while the other doesn’t, I’m listening.

The invisible wall I use, uses the stock chateaux study 'wall_mid_a.x'. I've used other stock walls with no problems.

I don't know why yours wouldn't work though, I'm no expert when it comes to custom segment meshes. I just tend to use stock meshes because I know they work when I need to use them for stuff!!

Just tried replacing the mesh in my segment file with (meshbank\ww2\france\rooms\chateau_study_room\wall_mid_a.x). Tested with FPSC 115 and the unofficial 119 beta. Still getting holes.

I use 1.18 final. But wouldn't have thought that would make any difference?

Anyway, all I can do is say what works for me, I have no idea why it doesn't also work for you...

Been there, done that. I have used FPSC for around two years. Its actually a pretty stable program once you learn all its quirks. I would like to understand way this doesn’t work for me. Until them I’ll just use my invisible wall segment.

Thank you.
