Animated Handgun Weapon Case

Hey guys. Hockeykid and I took a few minutes to update one of the weapon cases I made and then gave away a few years back. Anyway, the weapon case is now animated, and has been scripted to allow the player to open the case by pressing ENTER, and then take the weapon that’s inside. The files download is attached to this post. Easy-to-follow setup instructions can be found below for newer users. May give my rifle case the same update in the near future if enough people would like to have the complete set.

INSTALLATION AND SETUP TUTORIAL
_____________________________________________________

Installation

1. Download and extract the zip file attached to this post.

2. Open the folder named entitybank and place the 4 files in your entitybank folder.

3. Open the folder named scriptbank and place the case.fpi and weaponcase.fpi scripts in your scriptbank.

4. Open the folder named audiobank and place the folder named case (containing the caseopen.wav file) in your audiobank folder.

5. Open the folder named gamecoretext and place the enteropencase.tga HUD in your languagebank/text folder.

In-Editor Setup

When the player walks up to the case in-game and presses the ENTER key, the case will open.

Putting a handgun inside of the case is as easy as changing that weapon’s main script to use the weaponcase.fpi, and using the name of that weapon in the case’s ifused field. Of course, you’ll need to manually reposition the weapon pickup in the editor so it’s positioned inside of the case.

@J Swain, the model was already done, and so was the animation. But it only took about 3 or 4 minutes to animate on my end, and about the same for hockeykid to write up the scripts for it.

@Leongamerz, thanks, but remember to give credit to hockeykid too as he does all of the scripting work for all of our games/contributions here.

I will download this once I get home! This will be perfect for what I had in mind. A big thanks to the both of you.

@Kravenwolf

You model and texture work is always top class and is only ever surpassed by your generosity.

@Hockeykid

I appreciate your work on all these scripts that you create. I know that sometimes your name can go unmentioned in peoples thanks and congratulations, so, I thought I would say a huge THANK YOU from everyone!! Your scripting work is second to none!

Oh, your top down shooter is looking amazing! A bit too good if you ask me! I am entered in to the DTO comp as well! Your game reminds me how limited my skills are with this engine! Thanks guys!

@gozzy1999, make sure you extract all of the file contents into the appropriate directories. If it isn't opening, either you're not within distance, pressing the wrong key to open it, or the script isn't applied to it.

@unfamillia, thanks
