For various reasons I am forced to take a break from my FPSC hobby until next year.

I will probably ditch all my ongoing projects (some of which where even started with Fenix Mod ) and start all over again.

Therefore I decided to empty out all stuff that can be of use to the community, starting with a selection of links I collected over the last year from Wikimedia Commons. There are tons of full Public Domain music tracks on WC, most of which are of too bad quality or simply too "classic" to be used in an FPSC game. However some treasures are hidden there too - I am providing not the title but the direct link to Wikimedia Commons so everyone can check the copyright status prior to using it (note, that you can hear a sample prior to download the file). PD titles can also be used in one owns creations so our “House DJs” could possibly do their own cool tunes with most of these sources:

“Locked and Loaded” a rock song performed by USAF Band(!) “Max Impact” – a great song usable for military or action game menus, load screens or ingame music. These Air Force guys (and a girl) really deserve full credit even if that’s not mandatory.

“Hot tonight” by Segue, a classic-sounding original rock song. It still needs a lot of sampling to be used for opening titles or end credits.
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Segue_-_Hot_Tonight.ogg

“Non Sara” by “Franti”, an Italian punk-dark band (taken from the description, but it does sound more like Angelo Branduardi imo ) . Its completely in Italian but the opening can be edited into a nice loop.

2 orchestra pieces from the classic "The Planets” (by Holst back in 1914) performed by the US Air Force Heritage of America Band in stunning quality.
“Mars” is powerful and full of dramatic passages that would fit any AAA game or even Hollywood Blockbusters.
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Holst-_mars.ogg
“Uranus” is a bit lighter (Disney’s Fantasia springs to mind) but the first 60 seconds alone are enough to get the players attention right at the loading screen.

“Birds of Thunder”, performed by the USAF Concert Band, which is probably limited to War-themed games but for those it offers highly usable passages for both opening titles and end credits.

“Garyowen”, an 18th century Irish instrumental performed by the US Army Band Strings. Apart from already being a stunning piece of music recorded in highest quality, it can be used in any Medieval, Fantasy or Seafaring games (Anybody able to stay motionless after 0:45 has to be a robot!) This one even found its way onto my Winamp.

“He Comes Up Smiling” from 1914(!) , a piece of music, I immediately associated with the “Metro Theater” pack. Imagine a sepia-toned flyby through the theatre with this song (which gives the text a kind of creepiness) and you know what I mean
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:HeComesUpSmiling.ogg

“Magnetic Rag” by Scott Joplin. Incidently this recording has a strong echo effect which makes it immideately usable for effects in mystery or horror games. Otherwise it’s a little too light.
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Magnetic_Rag.ogg

“A Lesson in Futiliy” by The Escape Engine, an original rock song. Usable for Youtube promo vids but not much else.
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:The_Escape_Engine-A_Lesson_in_Futility.ogg

“Stone Salad” by From.Uz, actually only a 1:27 sample but still a powerful instrumental piece usable for all purposes. ATTENTION – this one is not fully PD but requires crediting.
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Stone_Salad.ogg

A guy named KevinMcLeod has uploaded a bunch of highly usable instrumentals to Wikimedia Commons which can be freely used as long his COPYRIGHT IS ATTRIBUTED. Imho his work is worth that small effort, everything sounds like its allready composed for games (or films).
“Living Voyage” is a great adventure or SciFi theme for all purposes
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:MacLeod,_Kevin_-_Living_Voyage.ogg
“The Voices” can be used for every second FPSC game around – pure mystery/horror
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:MacLeod,_Kevin_-_The_Voices_(Horror).ogg
“East of Tunesia” – the title speaks for itself. A light melody (almost a loop) that could have been from Tomb Raider TLR
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:MacLeod,_Kevin_-_East_of_Tunesia.ogg
“Earth Prelude” is great for mystery/adventure
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:MacLeod,_Kevin_-_Earth_Prelude.ogg
“Interloper” is my personal favourite. Not only great for opening titles but also for background music. I will definitely use this one day!

EDIT: If any of you know of other links to VERIFIED public domain pieces of music, feel free to post them here

In case you find my grammar and spelling weird ---> native German speaker ^^

I bloody adore KevinMcLeod's work.
This is his website

BTW 'Holst- mars' sounds a lot like a tune from Destroy All Humans.

Will you still be able to review FPSC games? I have always held your game reviews at high value.

Thank you!
