That sily unlock thing just shows AMD can not make a cpu properly... never could understand it...

See,you clearly dont know what you are talking about. They made a series of quadcore processors, they wanted to down the production cost so they simply locked the cores or sold the ones with defect(very small precentage, thats why mobo makers use that in their advantage to get more money) 4th core as tri-core. It shows that they know how to sell their stuff.

And to be honest,I worked in a repair shop over the summer,I saw two AMD motherboards fail, from 754 and AM2 era. We threw away about 5-7 Intel motherboards away.

And AMD C series BSODing? Funny,I also have an ASUS 1015b with AMD C-50 and the Atom series can just hide in the dark and cry from it.

Ever since my first PC I had all AMD CPU's. EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM STILL WORKS TODAY! I have about 15 socket 462 CPU's in my box that are like brand new.

I had an Intel before but guess what,an !OVERCLOCKED! Core2Quad6600 could not surpass the Athlon X2 250,both running at the same speed of 3,6ghz. Intel has a lead only in those fancy tests that barely make a difference to the normal user. And why the hell would he put a costy Intel into a tight budget computer.

Since you are in the USA don't overlook a used computer. I see some pretty good deals on Craigslist.org at times. I have seen some free computers better than the one you have now. Just have to check the site often. Tigerdirect occasionally has refurbished deals that are not to bad. As for AMD vs Intel. I prefer AMD as they have never let me down and they run cooler than Intels. I am mostly using Intels now as that is what Apple decided to use in their machines so I did not have a choice.

There are two kinds of computer users. Those that use Macs and those that wish they did.

I've been using AMD for the past 10 years, never had any problems, even when using low end cpu's.

Wow 350 budget for a new computer? That might buy you a gfx card and power supply for a mid level gamers standard. If your budget is that low, I'd suggest you save your money. If you get around 700 or more you might be able to build something a lot better and of a true gaming machine standard. Other wise, your just going to build a low end computer. NewEgg, TigerDirect etc all have great prices of bare bone kits but nothing gamer wise that low.

Looking around when I was building my own PC recently, I found some great finds.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1378560&CatId=6988
There's an i5-2500k that comes with a free shirt and beta code to Blacklight: Retribution. And on top of that, it's $10 cheaper than the standalone i5-2500k. While the i5-2500k is a quad core and a bit more expensive than the Phenom II x6 1090T, some Googling helped me find out that the 2500k can still outperform the 1090T almost universally.

I was able to find a Galaxy GTX 460 for $112 at my local Best Buy. Do some looking around and see if they have good cards on clearance at your local electronics stores.

8GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR3 Dual Channel RAM is only about $50.

I got an 850w PSU for $80 during a Newegg Black Friday sale (retails for $150 or so).

Just make sure you know what you're looking for, Nilloc. Do a bit of searching on Newegg and TigerDirect.

Cheesehead for life.

Could we seriously stop comparing Intel CPUs Vs AMD CPUs ? Who really cares how many of each one failed and which didn't. That isn't the point of this thread...

NIlooc223: The List Phaelax recommend you to get:

Quote: "AMD Athlon II X3 3.3GHz - $72
ECS A885GM-A2 motherboard - $40
G.Skill Sniper 2x4GB - $40
Seagate 500GB 7200rpm sata6 - $85
Asus DVD burner - $20
Sapphire Radeon HD6870 1GB - $145
OCZ 550w PSU - $40
Gigabyte ATX mid tower - $15

Total: $457"

Is just right. If I may add something to it, I think getting the AMD Phenom X4 960T CPU would be a sightly better choice. But either way, this Rig will do fine.

I believe we recommended enough stuff for now. It's now up to you what you want to do...

Good Luck...

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650, Nvidia Gefocre GTX 560 OC 1024MB, 8192MB RAM, Nforce 780i, Windows 7 Home Premium x64

Bare in mind my list of parts uses several mail-in rebates. The 960T was my first choice, but that's an extra $40 and had a slower clock speed. From what I've read, the little extra juice in the X3 should make up for the improvements of the 960T.

Decent computers aren't cheap, but they aren't expensive either.
My dad's dell, (about 6 years old) can run any modern game at medium settings at max resolution. When he bought it for £1,000 it was top-of-the-line, but now you could sell it on ebay for about £300.
Specs:
Core duo 2.11GHz
2GB DDR2
Sapphire Radeon (?)4550(?) 1GB
And a PSU that is BELOW the wattage required for the gfx card, yet the pc runs faster than mine, which is better than his. You don't need a dedicated gaming rig to play games. A £600 PC should do just fine.

craigslist your computer stuff. if you look at my other thread you can find that i found a dell 9150 tower for 35 usd. all it needs is a harddrive. I already have vista home premium and planning to dual boot it with linux. i just craigslist recently all my computer needs. that's how i got my lil' sis a 17" monitor with an HP 530 CMT tower loaded with XP. running a fx5200 geforce GPU card.

anyways what im trying to say is find some local computer or computer parts on craigslist.

I think its fun building new PCs, so just for kicks I priced out my dream machine if money was irrelevant. I'm at about $5k
