I need some expert opinions on picking a good, cheap graphics tablet. Something that'll do the job, given it's only gunna be used for a few hours a week.

The less expensive the better, so long as it doesn't end up being a pile of faecal matter. I did find this offer on EBay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WACOM-BAMBOO-TOUCH-TABLET-CTT-460-USB-PC-MAC-GRAPHICS-TABLET-MULTI-TOUCH-NEW-/120807610928?pt=UK_Collectables_InputDevices_RL&hash=item1c20b1da30#ht_3770wt_1344

...And am massively suspicious. Do you guys reckon this is legitimate? Surely it can't be, at that price?

Its real but its the worse thing ever to be made. Its the equivalent of a ipods zoom and scroll.

Look for a Wacom Bamboo Fun Small

They hit from £28 - £50 new and used. Brilliant tablets, ive abused mine for the last two-three years and its going strong still.

It offers everything you need for all your digi drawing. Also full Photoshop/adobe and art-range compatible

£28 one - used

£38 - refurbished

£50 - new

The one lazerus linked is the one I have. I really recommend it as I've had mine for a very long time, and it's still working. Mine came with a free copy of Art-Rage. (Amazing graphics program)

I've just recently bought a bamboo fun. It's an awesome tablet.
It is a5 size for the sensitive area, but I find that it is all i really need being used to drawing via pencil/pen.

I think the only reason to go bigger is if you are a painter and you're used to making large brush strokes from the elbow rather than wrist. you can get a bamboo bundled with photoshop elements which is pretty sweet.
