I don't think you can change the graphics card on a laptop.

I may be completely wrong though

No, I don't believe you can, however a tech guy from the brand of your laptop may do it, however its very unlikely.

It really depends on your laptop and the options can be very limited. For example, my old laptop came with a nVidia Geforce 9500M and the best it could install 9650M or something like that, basically the minute difference wouldn't have been worth the money. My current laptop, with Intel Integrated graphics cannot be upgraded, or so I have been told. Plus the process isn't necessarily that easy in comparison to a desktop and you are risking damaging your laptop. It's probably something best left to a professional.

My best advice would be to consult your laptop manufacturer with as much information as possible, including specific information about what model you own. You never know your manufacturer might have a service centre who can offer you the service for a price. But I think if anybody is an expert on what your laptop can handle and how it can be upgraded would be those who made it.

PS. Check the conditions on your warranty, some can be made void if you make any alterations on the hardware.

It completely depends. If the laptop has a Intel graphics card,it is 100% integrated and you wont be able to replace it. Some other graphics card(for example some Radeon HD series and Nvidia ION) are also integrated and cannot be replaced.

But if the laptop has a discrete graphics card, means you can replace it,you need to check out what kind of type it is(MXM slot etc.). The problem usually is that new laptop graphic cards are extremely expensive unless bought used.

All Intel graphic cards are integrated,so there is absolutely no way to replace or swap them.

Intel HD 3000 is not exactly a part of the board least not the desktop i series... guessing you got a core i5 right?

The 3000 series is pretty much the high end of the flock... you might as well turn this into a 'What pc rig makes for good gaming for XXX£/$ budget...'

I have not been looking into the HD graphics much ... my core i5 had a 2000 series and is a Sandy Bridge edition... 2500 and well you either have a higher end model or a core i7 in your laptop... nice!

Anyone know what the story on replaceable GPU's what happened to them?.. I have been thinking about external GPU's for ages...

To be honest rather get yourself a gaming desktop. I purchased a laptop with the hopes of installing aan external gpu. It works but its such a mission, check it out www.techradar.com/news/computing-components/graphics-cards/how-to-make-an-external-laptop-graphics-adaptor-915616

My laptop is an i3 with an Intel GMA 4500 integrated card. Get a desktop first, then get a laptop. It will save you from getting grey hairs from frustration.
