Hi all;

I just installed the trial version of AGK. I fire it up, select 'open an existing project', and hit run. It tells me that it hasn't been built yet and offers to do it for me. I select yes, and immediately get the error message " compiler cannot write to project folder. Compiler requires administrator level privileges.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium with SP1.

Is this a Windows thing?

Thanks for the help.

Try to run AppGameKit as admin... (Right click on the icon and select run as admin)

If there are any bugs with any software you use on windows 7 allways try doing that.

When i right-clicked on the shortcut that was installed automatically to my desktop, my options were very limited - see picture attached .

I had to chase down the actual exe file in 'Program Files' in order to 'run as administrator' ...lol... I just LOVE Windows.

Probably why my main computer runs Linux.

All is good!

Thanks for the help

That's weird. There is a way to get rid of the requirenent to run as admin for good though. Search for UAC, click change the settings for user account controll and turn it off. That was the second thing I did when I got my new computer, First was to install google chrome...

Install into somewhere other than Program Files.

Or just turn off UAC and solve half of all problems with programs in the process

The first thing I do when installing a new Windows Vista/7 is to switch off UAC It is an insult to have your computer second guess your commands - grr!

I drink tea, and in my spare time I write software.
