That's awesome. Now, all they have to do is make cars like this.

I call fake.

1) There are spelling mistakes in the video (like "reaserch")
2) The guy is way to cautious with those gloves, yet there's a fully unprotected guy next to him.
3) The smoke doesn't look realistic.

I think it's just a well made viral video, advertising for the upcoming Wipeout 2048 game.

It is indeed a computer generated animation. At first I wasn't sure but had suspicions after seeing the smoke. After watching the video again, you can see that the track drifts from the table at around 0:40 (the table is real but the track is imperfectly match-moved on top of it). Additionally, there is no reference to the Japanese Institute of Science and Technology (JIST) on the internet, except for references to this video.

But the good thing is: If you want and have some money, u can get yourself one of those. Fake or not, it is possible.

I doubt it's fake.
We've seen this done before, maybe not in this manner, but it's nothing new.
Spelling mistakes are probably a mere result of English skills.

It not fake...

Its just a most advanced version of Quantum lock, which we saw a few months back, Check red eye's post. There also Japanese so unless you decide to learn how to spell the name correctly (in Japanese characters), your not going to find the place

You've never handled the stuff have you? It causes frostbite on contact so you may excuse nerves on that one

I for one look forward to this taking off, Liquid No2 is cheaper than bottled water right now so. 35 litres to £40ish depending who you order through. Though the correct holding tank is about £120+ depending on its efficiency rating (you can rent though)

Not sure what to make of it, but Quantum Levitation is real science and something like this is no doubt possible, it looks like a standard quantum levitation track but with the ability to control acceleration and deceleration without the use of a finger. I could be faked, but if it isn't, I wouldn't at all be surprised, though it is pretty freaking cool.

It would be interesting to see if quantum levitation can be scaled to a size where human weight can be levitated inside of an object.

I never said "quantum levitation" isn't real. I said this video isn't real.

I have handled it, and I know a lot about how to handle it correctly. From my experience I can safely tell you that the container is perfectly safe to touch with your bare hands because it's isolated.

Also, you have about 2 seconds after contact with the liquid before it damages you. I've dipped my hand in a big container before and let it run around my fingers without anything bad happening. The reason for this is because the moisture on your skin has to evaporate first, creating a small protective layer between your skin and the liquid nitrogen.

With that aside, you're still missing my point. I said that they have one very overprotected guy, and one very underprotected guy. They should both either be protected, or unprotected; Not mixed. That doesn't make sense to me.

@ Everyone

Look at the smoke when it goes around that loop. When liquid nitrogen evaporates, it's still extremely cold, and naturally it tries to sink to the ground. In the loop however it doesn't. Fake.

The easiest way is to highlight the work of lazy post production:

(Video is not mine)

The science is real but this particular video appears to be fake:

- The track is clearly CGI
- The acronym and name for the university is JAIST (Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) not JIST as written in the video. Pretty basic mistake to make for a legit. video, don't you think?
- Ratings are disabled (generally a red flag)

Oh the technology is real. Quantum levitation was already around in 1965, no big deal there. It still puzzles my why everyone calls it quantum levitation though. Isn't it just the Meissner effect?

Anyway, if you're interested in superconductors and how this works, this documentation explains it expertly : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLWUtUZvOP8. That's well worth the watch.

And here's the old thread a few people mentioned : http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=190486&b=2

To be honest, I thought it was real when I first saw it, simply because its pretty much common place.

I actually don't understand why they didn't at least try and do it for real, then I wouldn't mind if it was a viral marketing campaign, I would be like; "Fair play lads... fair play".
