So are you saying that you have two physical hard drives in your computer but the Windows (or whatever OS you're using) only reports one?

Are they plugged in to the motherboard properly? I know how to build a computer but i dont the exact details on the connectors and whatnot, but it seems to me it would make sense to check that they are both plugged in... Or perhaps when the OS booted it didnt see one of the drives, if that's the case then restarting may help... Also, when the comp is on, do you know if both drives are spinning? Not sure what else could be wrong with them...

I hope you get it fixed!!

Hopefully they didnt delete your info. If they did, hopefully you can do something about it.

Haha, good luck.

Next time, don't go to best buy. Go to a store where the employees and customers are treated right. I would suggest going to a small business owner who's been around a long time. Talk to friends who might know about them and get some feedback. Checkout reviews.

Finding a computer repair guy is like finding a doctor. You don't go to walmart to get a checkup do you? Don't give your computer, the computer that you manage your finances on and have much of your digital life on, don't entrust that to just anybody.

you may just need to assign it a drive letter. Right click on it for your options.

Wow all I can say. First off Best Buy should of did their job to begin with. Second Jerico is right go to a computr shop next time. Third if it was me gettin back a broken drive such as your describe. Id first load up a old win98 boot disc and run FDISK to repartion. Then format using command format C: /s and wait about 3 or 4 hours. A low level format can fix just about any drive. If that failed, Id contact best buy corp or their store manger about the cost of a new drive which they owe you.

I seriously can not understand your motives, you are extremely puzzling.

Restore discs usually give you a warning before continuing with the operation, it will ask you if you are sure you want to continue. So you are saying you just skipped every thing it asked and pressed the continue key? From the sounds of it, you formatted both your drives and best buy are not to blame here. Be more careful next time.

I doubt it would simply accept the wrong restore disk.

Used Bios. Blaster Worm has struck again! So I changed the start-up order to have the CD Drive start first

Well there is no wrong way to plug in a SATA drive, so I suggest you take it back and ask for a refund on all services and go to a real computer repair shop.

Edit:
Hmm check the jumper pin settings CS is not a real option or a option that should be used unless Master or Slave will not work.
