Hey guys !

First of all, sorry if this is not allowed in here ! Please do lock the post if there are any problems with it.

I have started a campaign on indiegogo.com in order to fund the development of "Samurai Legends".

Samurai Legends Campaign

Maybe some of you remember the project under the name "Oriental Fantasy Project". Unfortunately the WIP thread was closed down since I hadn't been active for a couple of months.
A lot has changed and a lot of time and effort has been invested into the project so far. Unfortunately, as I mentioned on the campaign page, some team members had to drop out due to personal reasons. Ultimately any funds that would be raised would go to the hiring of talents and the acquisition of additional licenses.

It would be really great help if you guys could help spread the word about the campaign. Maybe tell your friends, share the campaign link on Facebook, or tweet about it.
This would really mean a lot to us, but specifically to me. It would be a shame if the project would end up unfinished.
For those who wish to donate, there are of course some perks as reward for the support and help.

Your help would really mean a lot ! Thanks for reading !

Please join our new Samurai Legends Facebook page! Would be great to see you guys there.

People around here complain about the price of the Dark Game Studio bonanza deal, that's how closed tight their (or their parent's) wallets are. That, and so many would-be great projects falling by the wayside cause a bit of cynicism for anybody's project getting done. But good luck with your effort!

You'll find most of the people who are happy to pay that price don't bother posting about it here. What I mean is, only the complainers complain.

Thanks tiresius. You are correct, money is tight at this time. One of the reasons why we ended up on indiegogo.com looking for support.

As I said in my post, just spreading the word on any social network would be of great help. Maybe we will reach our target goal, maybe not. But at the end what matters is that we at least tried.

If I get some extra money to throw around, I may donate.

I looked at the donation rewards and I've got to say it's a bit steep, I wouldn't pay $500 to have a signed copy of my favourite game ever and I'm a huge gamer/collector.

No offence intended, ofcourse.

Hehe no I wouldn't either. The signed copy and your name in the game is just a small "Thank You !" for a generous donation. I was thinking about other rewards, but this was the best I could come up with. Unless I would start give away stuff from our home Which is probably junk nobody wants anyway.

Anyway, thanks Fuzz ! Any help is appreciated !

Note: I have adjusted the donation perks.

What i would prefer is, if i donate I get the game when its made, and if it isnt made i get a refund

as this is pretty much what say, Overgrowth, project zomboid, etc is doing: "preorder" with a huge discount (dunno about the discount) and you get the current build and every other build until release, then u get the full game

this to help funding the game during development..

<and, to be honest,

Ninja: $100
- Ninja Apprentice + Your name will be mentioned in the game credits.
wgat is ninja apprentice? and why is this worth 100$?>

oh i see, ninja apprentice is a special edition of the game? still, what does it contain?

I'm also preparing a campaign for my shoot'em, have already rewritten the stuff about a dozen times, always spotting some sillyness here and there.

There's nothing really wrong with yours, but the jump from $10 to a hundred is absolutely not a good move, put something in around $25, and (or) $50.

Your goal is pretty much okay, i mean Flash games tend to target double the amount! (and then wonder why they failed, but that's an other thing)

The mentioned refund in case of failure is a nice idea, and can be done, but since it has Paypal as a requirement, kinda useless. If you don't reach the total amount, but very close, you could probably restart the campaing, with the remaining amount as a target?.. i know i will do that if it goes like that.

I'm very happy to see this becoming more than a graphics test anyways!

I'm ashamed i have to prove now that i know his much about this pony stuff, but you aren't exactly at Twilight's level if you get my line in an offensive way... (What's this pony mania among grown men again?)

Anyways, nope, nothing wrong with flash games, but may you too, just for a quick (or quik) second, have a little grin on your face, when you spot a campaign about something which has its twins of hundreds for free on Miniclip.com, but this time, they would like $10K for it.

And now the very same question, but now with ponies! (and Irradic just loses his thread there... isn't this a WIP capable topic by the way?)

for me, I have always loved kid shows, Powerpuff girls, Fosters home for imaginary friends, aand a few others i dont know name off edit (i was trying to point out girl shows there, but fosters is kind of unisex in target audience.
Sailor moon is a great example though! xD)

point is: i could totally just sit down, put on cartoon network and watch, with no problem.

About this pony thing: I just find the show to be very good, and to me, its not very girly at all, aside from being ponys and that most ponys are female.

but, if you have any more questions regarding that I recon we should move to the pony thread, as we might get a mod hammer on us xD

Probably there is a little confusion going on. You can donate any amount, a dollar or fifteen.
You just get different perks (rewards) for the amount you have donated. Let's say you donated 15$, your reward would still fall under the Ninja Apprentice (Perk #1) reward.
The perks are not the stepping of the donation amounts.
What I could do is adjust the perk ranges, say drop everything by 50$. So everyone donating between 10-49$ would receive Perk #1, 50-149$ Perk #2 etc.

You had to name the Perk levels, so I came up with the Ninja stuff.
I very much sticked to the guide lines, and checked out the other campaigns to see what they offered in return for donations.

The whole Indiegogo thing was suggested to me by a Channel subscriber on Youtube. He was able to raise almost 4000$ with his campaign last year.

Anyway guys, thanks for pointing this stuff out. I can still do some adjusting. As long no one has donated yet, then the perks are set in stone until the end of the campaign.
If you have suggestions for other perks, which you think would be better rewards for your donations. Please let me know.

I have adjusted the perks to be closer to the suggestions you guys made. Maybe this is more to your liking.

Yes you can actually do that.

Thanks Quel. At some point I realized that I invested so much time in the project that it would be a shame to not make more of it.
My wife's cousin, a screen writer, offered himself to write the story. From there on we started to work seriously on the project.

Does it for you people?

There's more to it than just watching the show. It's really the whole feeling of being together in a strong community based on friendship and love. The show is what keeps it together. I don't want to hijack this thread, if you have further questions go to the official thread and read this.

Thanks so much Blobby 101 ! Your donation is very much appreciated !
Someone donated 75$ last week but didn't use IndieGoGO, instead he sent it directly to my PayPal account.

@Quel - That's what we noticed as well. I contacted IndieGoGo regarding that matter. There are some requirements in order to appear in the listings. You need to at least have 100$ after the first 7 days, after 2 weeks your project needs to have 500$ in order to be continuously listed. Hence it's important that the donations are made through the IndiGoGo website, and not sent directly to PayPal.

Personally I was bit disappointed regarding this change, previously donations helped you get featured but were not necessary in order to stay listed.

However it's still possible to visit our campaign website through the direct link. Supposedly it should be listed when using the Search function (according to IndieGoGo's support email). This worked last week by entering "Samurai" in the search box.

@TheComet - Thanks a lot ! I hope so too !

At the moment I only have a profile page on Moddb. I'll create a game specific site once I have a new video to show. The videos on youtube are not up to date.
If there is interest I could create a new thread in the WIP section for the meantime.

Absolutely make a WIP thread, if you are still making it in DBPro at least...

Would make a huge difference in my opinion, not counting a few heavy forum members, a completely different group of people is visiting these "geek culture" boards.

I have been coming back here for years and just a few months earlier had the urge to check out this one... just seemed out of my interest with this title. And yep i was right it's pretty random stuff.
