I was wondering if anyone knew of programs like http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=view_product&id=2155 or http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=view_product&id=2124 that were out there. Paid or otherwise.

Exgen keeps crashing on me and the sound engine doesnt have a demo or anything showing it in operation. I dont even know if either of them are supported anymore.

I believe exgen works if you disable aero. Try it on the demo. Rightclick on the shortcut and you'll find it in compatibly settings. Further, the font is messed up, but there's a fix for it here:

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=189195&b=2

Exgen is a great piece of software, but I don't think it's officially supported anymore.

Actually, if you go to the official site and download the demo:

http://www.binarysun.co.uk/free-games/exgen/

The demo worked fine for me. So either it works fine in windows 8 or they've fixed the problems. Off to go reactivate my copy

I tried out ExGen a long time ago, excellent program at the time and up until I read these posts I'd forgotten about it.

There were two extras I found, TimeLineFX, but it's not free, and http://alertgames.net/index.php?page=s/pd2 which does export GIF animations but I'm not sure about other animation exporting.

And I did find tons of audio effects generators, too many to list here and tons of them for free.
