Hi,

So just like 10 minutes ago, my usb mouse stopped working. It was working fine for a while, then bam. It stops working. It used to cut off every now and then also, but that's a different problem.
Anyway, when I plug it in, I may occasionally get the "USB Device has malfunctioned message" in the bottom right, however the thing is, it has a light that shines when it turns on, which DOES shine however I am unable to use it. It's like my computer is not recognizing it because when another usb mouse is plugged in, the mousepad on my laptop is supposed to turn off, however it doesnt and makes my mouse unusable.

Any help?

Thanks!

Try the mouse in another computer if you can, or try a different mouse on your PC. Otherwise your mouse is probably dead.

Nah, it's a Alienware TactX.

Remind me never to buy alienware products again. My m15x is breaking down after 1.5 years of use. For £1.5k I expected more.

Thanks for the feedback charger bandit.

..also,

I'm an idiot, a restart seemed to do the trick, sorry for making a pointless thread like this, mods can lock

Thanks!

There is a known XP problem with USB, which acts in quite mysterious ways. For me too, there were periods when the mouse, or my usb speakers just stopped working constantly after 10 minutes, half hours of use... Then i switch usb plugs, and everything is fine for an other half an hour...

The funny thing is, that i didn't do anything to this problem, and these haven't occured for at least a year now.

The CPU fan broke, I had it serviced but it still needs a cooling pad to run games like Skyrim smoothly and the average temperature is 66 degrees Celsius.

I couldn't be bothered to read all the posts, but going from the title: Did you remember to feed the mouse?

If pots and pans were "if"s and "and"s there would be no work for programmer's hands...
