Hi! I have wondered about something a time,, it's this about credit lists

Let's say that I create a game with one of TGC products and wants to thank TGC for being a part of the development of the game. Well,, they are, since I used their products. But they don't know what kind of game it is, nor the contents. So basically they have indirectly been a part of th 'development team' or how I should say it.

The same could apply to users of the TGC forums.

Example: I created a game in DBPro, I have posted a question in the forums that I need help with a part of the code. Another user replies and acctually writes the code part for me in the forum.

This user nor the TGC has been told what kind of game it is, and they know nothing about the game even being developed.

But I want to thank them anyway, by putting an intro screen in my game saying something like 'This game is powered by The game creators and additional coding by <The users screen name>

Please note! None of this has happened, it's just an example!

It's ethically and good manners to ask the concerned parts for permission before doing something like this.

But is it legal?
I already know that it is strictly prohibited to use other peoples name's without permission. But this is about using a company name and a users screen name.

If you want to be nice, or you feel it may give an extra to your game's reputation, put on there somewhere a "Made using DBPro" logo/line or something. It's only better for the company, but absolutely not a necessity.

It MAY be a possibility that some idiot makes the most crappy thing with a TGC product, and puts their name and logo all over it, by which he or she kinda ruins the image of TGC... but that's not illegal either, just a very stupid move.

If you used some code you didn't write... you can always talk to that person on what he/she wants in return.

I managed to give some help here and there myself, and didn't feel like asking to be in the credits. It's a "Special thanks to" kinda category at max, if someone wrote a code piece.

-Mental Hybrid: A unique heavy story based shoot'em ~40% (primary project)
-CoreFleet: An underground commander unit based RTS (canned) ~15%

I personally would thank in the credits everyone I felt helped in the game developement process.

for me, my list would include TGC team, plugin writers both official and third party, anyone who helped with media, major concepts or mechanisms.

I would ask them personally if it were ok to name them (real/alias/company)

i cant see any objection to being named as a help to a project.

i guess if they object you could always add a "special thanks to that certain someone who did something specific, you know who you are." so the sentiment is there even if they wont accept credit, though i cant imagine why they wouldn't.

but more to your point, i wouldnt put someones name/screen or company name on anything without their permission. its just polite.
so says i anyway.

Sometimes I like to use words out of contents
