Hello my fellow geeks!

So! I was recently was checking out a download on a file sharing site when I saw an add for an MMO called Astro Empires (site: http://www.astroempires.com/. I've taken a look at from their site and it looks pretty cool - of course, I've never played an MMO before - or COD, or Halo, or Portal, yada yada yada

I've read their terms and they seem resonable, and they allow people to join and play for and then upgrade to a better account for a price. Does anyone else play this game? Any thoughts?

Thanks for the input,
Captain Coder

@The Zoq2: Thanks for your input

It's probably good for it to get boring after awhile, it'll help keep me from getting too addicted to it - if I join.

Anyone else?

Thanks again,

I played it for a couple of years, actually. Just quit recently. There's a lot of good satisfaction to be had through strategy. If it's your kind of game, it will be fun if you can get into a solid guild - like many games, it's much better when you can cooperate with other people. From a game design perspective, it has some flaws - the newer servers tend to be far too competitive and people who are trying to play casually tend to be attacked until they quit. The older servers have huge conglomerations of higher-level players with billions of fleet that are basically untouchable. I'd recommend an older server, though - you'll usually be competing with others like you and the super-high-level guilds will ignore you.

One warning is that it's the kind of game that will have you logging in frequently to do things. It's a persistent universe, so you can't just pick it up and play it when you like. While you're not online, people can still attack you and you have to log back in and deal with that.
