first here is the test code-

set display mode 1024,768,16
wait key

It all compiles fine-

but it doesn't launch because it gives this error message..

"This application has failed to start because 'd 3dx 9.31.dll' was not found. re-installing the application may fix this problem.

So, I did, I un-installed and re-installed the cd version and the Db_Pro upgrade u761 and it still does the same thing.

you need to install directx 9.0c (the newest version would be the best)

I did a search in my windows system and found 'd3dx9_43.dll

so, I made a copy of it and re-named the copy d3dx9_31.dll and now the
DB_pro works fine!

Therefore, I don't think the new DB_pro version upgrade is set to the newest version of direct-X.

You should not have renamed that dll. Delete the copy that you renamed.
Then use this link to get all the DirectX 9.0c components that are missing
from your machine. Windows 7 and vista do not ship with these components.
DBpro does not use DirectX 10 or 11. It was built on DirectX 9.0c.

Here is a safe microsoft link to get the missing dlls from.

The DBpro community is here to help.

This is not a Bug.
