Dark GDK / How to use DarkMATTER1 animations?

Alright, so having recently downloaded DarkGDK, I've been looking at the included example media. I noticed that all of the DarkMATTER characters have their different animations saved as different copies of the same model. How does one go about using these in game? I know normally you'd just have the one model, with different key frames that you could fast forward or rewind to, but entirely different files?

The voices in my head said I'm normal... o.0

For the darkMatter stuff, dbAppendObject() I believe does that for you...
