As the title suggests, what happened to the official TGC conventions? I thought I'd do a big of googling and it seems they've not been held for the last few years. Is this a sign that they're not popular any more, or is there one planned for 2012?

Would be awesome if they did them again, just because I've never been to one. Heck, I'd probably turn up as a Viking.

But I spoke with Lee recently about this and I couldnt see past his codex...

I shall pressume they have one planned for the future... question is... are there enough people able to attend?

I know I would go... specially if near North West England... heck I would love to host one for them...

The geography is always a PITA. I've been tempted a few times, but it's always up north and about 6 hours drive away for me. Can't complain though really. It's the organisers prerogative where it's based.

It went from one extreme to the other...some rocky outcrop on the South Coast originally where OSX Using Happy Dude lived, to Leeds close to where I live It was also quite convenient for Rick, Mike and Lee, just a short trek down the M62. We also have a strange concentration of developers in the North.

I have no plans to organise another at the moment, and Rick hasn't mentioned anything of late.

How did you find the last one your organised mate? I remember seeing photos and it seems like you had a laugh. Did you get the numbers you wanted to make it worth the effort?

In various people's homes around the country I guess, mostly in the NorthWest/Lancashire region initially I suspect. There are rumours of offshoots in Wales and further south.

I'm not sure where the registered office is but I doubt that would mean much except for official company registration purposes.

I'd be happy to have an official TGC convention in my back yard. You'd all have to provide your own flights to Australia, but I would be happy to have various tents set up in the yard where you could all sleep. (You'd have to dig your own latrine, in the neighbour's yard of course.)

We could have a massive barbecue and beer fest. It would be epic!

I'd be game for that Thraxas. Digging a latrine in Australia is on my bucket list. Get organising!

Is TGC ever thinking of having one of these in the US? I'd actually like to meet the team behind the software, but the conventions are always in the UK .

Oh and Thraxas, I'm actually coming to Australia in a few days lol... Get my tent ready

Cheers,
Anayar

There was about 28 of us including 5 TGC staff...having TGC there obviously makes it worthwhile. It's direct access, everyone talking over a few drinks at night, and learning some cool stuff during the day. I'd say it's for the most dedicated of coders due to the cost of the digs and facilities. I think it was £35 a day for the facilities (room, equipment, lunch, drinks and snacks) plus B&B and evening meal for another £50 a night.

It's all charged at cost, although there has always been a few freebies thrown in.

I am in the central ares near the city centre not a suburb town... Practically thirty mins walk from victoria station... five to ten mins by bike... four mins by car...

I think it might be a fitting outcome if the users organised an event instead of TGC... just my thoughts...

Adding to that... then the TGC staff attended of course... with prezzies going in reverse order then Lee can receive some random junk from our rooms haha [that ones from the recent AppGameKit compo if my memory serves me well... oh no it was an interface thing right¿]

Deal...

Wonder if we should bring a ship load of beer to the convention?

I would suggest to have the next convention in Belgium. *hint hint*
I'd bring my guitar and play some metaltunes.
