So, my friend gave me 2 9800GX2's because he replaced them with 2 570's. Installed them, tried to get the best airflow possible, and while running 3DMark Vantage, I hit the 95*C with them, at which I stopped the benchmark. They are idling at 67*C and honestly, I wouldn't know how to improve airflow on them. I have an Antec 902, side fan blowing outwards and all the dust filters cleaned. Should I be worried?

Still, isn't that a little bit to close?

I'd start worrying if it were over 102. And even then it's designed to work at higher temperatures than specified so there's really nothing that can go wrong. Just make sure you distance them apart at a fair distance (if you're using SLI then that's not an option), and make sure they're far away from any other computer components that get hot (the PSU for example).

My GTX 580 heats up to 94°C when I play BF3, and the maximum temperature is 97°C. That's pretty close, but nothing ever went wrong.

Ahh, keeping them away from the PSU is also a problem, since both cards are at the bottom of the mobo and the PSU at the bottom of the case. I hope this doesn't go wrong

I'd start buying more fans. You can usually install some up in the front. You can also get extra expansion port fans. You might want to consider getting aftermarket coolers for the cards.

There are numerous opinions on which is better. Pull hot air away from component or push cool air to the component. It is always good to test on your own to see how it works out for you.

Flip your fan around so that it is blowing cool air onto your cards and see how that effects your temps. This is of course, if you have another exhaust fan.

Currently I have both front fans blowing inwards, top fan en top-rear fan blowing outwards. Side fan is also blowing outwards, will see what blowing inwards helps. Getting aftermarket coolers for the sandwich GPU's NVidia may be a bit difficult to find.

Also, I now have 4 GPU's in quad SLI with each 512mb of GDDR3 RAM, do they add up to a total of 2GB, or does it only use 512 of it ( maybe because each GPU needs the textures etc. )???

Based on what's being said here, I'd guess they use 512mb each.

if they are old and used it might be a good idea to clean them ( with a vacuum cleaner (did i say that right?) or with a can of compressed air. The dust inside the cards could be causing the heatincrease. And id be more worried about the 67C idle than the ingame temp. You could check if you have fan settings software on your comp. Mine allows me to put them to 100% which sounds like a jet engine but keeps it really chill .
