Hi, I recently finished a new version of my free game, Physigons. So far all I have right now is the "main" thread I linked to, a youtube ad video, and a dev blog which I might just delete. Right now I have about 100 views(19 cents!) through the adfly link to download, and I'm pretty sure most of them came from these forums.

I want to advertise my game. I want people besides dark basic programmers to know it exists and to download it. But I don't want to spend money on advertising(why should I, it's a free game). All I can think of is go around and make similar topics on forums, like minecraftforum.net .

Do you guys have any other ideas? Or can you suggest some other forums to make topics on?

Get it published, pay for advertisement, facebook, myspace, other peoples/members forums/websites and millions of other ways to advertise. I suggest you google/research how to market and advertise your product.

that may be true but he/she still needs to research how to properly market his/her product. Posting on a few forums is ok but not really very effective. He/she needs to google marketing, google how to advertise, maybe even consider speaking to a marketing firm or a business consultant for advice/tips on how to market his/her product. Creating software is awsome and cool but if no one is playing it then whats the point other then just for fun.

I'd post it on places like IndieDB, perhaps ModDB. These places are always busy, on TGC you'd tend to be really lucky now to get any views as in all fairness it has died a bit.

I wouldn't go as far as to say to pay for advertisement as it would end up just becoming a loss to you as you aren't charging. But ModDB and IndieDB is the way to go IMO.
