I am currently building my first pc and Im not sure whether to go with
an Nvidia 560 Ti or whatever the Radeon HD equivalent would be. Im looking at an MSI Twin Frozr III GeForce GTX 560 Ti w/ 448 cores :http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127615
I want to be able to play games like BF3 on High settings. This is my first build so any help would be appreciated. Also I have heard that the Radeon HD GPUs are better for strictly gaming and that Nvidia cards are better for all around things. I have an AMD FX 6100 processor and I heard something about how an AMD CPU and GPU combo does something special or something but Im a total noob at this so if anyone could help me out that would be great. Thanks!

I have an ATI Radeon 6950 HD 800MHz 2GB, runs BF3 on full settings no problem, but I also have an i5 2500k 3.30Ghz along with 8GB DDR3 RAM.

I have an Nvidia 560 TI, it runs BF3, Crysis 1&2, and stuff like that at max settings.

GET NVIDIA!!!!

IT SUPPORTS PHYSX HARDWARE MODE.

Very important to a lot of good games.

Also I quite sure that the AMD + ATI card combo only does special things for when you have 2 cards.

I think you're referring to the "scorpius" platform. There's not a whole bunch of info out there, on this, but here's some:

Also, I'd recommend the 560 TI. It has great performance, and PHYSX on nvidia cards makes a pretty noticeable difference:

I've always liked using my Voodoo 2 card best. It's scorchingly fast with 8MB Ram.

I had a 16mb voodoo 3... with the tv pod! But quickly became disappointed when an unofficial OGL patch on a friends TNT2 card made Unreal look better than the native Glide it was designed for

this is funny... but my VooDoo 4 4500 was the best gpu I ever owned!!!

in short... NVidia because the legaxy of the best Graphics Cards Ever lives on through them... ATI has nothing to say about itself...

[I also had a voodoo 2 and 3 I still have a voodoo 3 lying around here somewhere...]

I envy you. Now imagine if Voodoo was still around! ATI/Vidia would have nothing on Voodoo.

I had experiences with many videocards, and i dont know why, but ATIs were alway better for me, They always worked, ATI drivers in my opinion are much better and contrary to poular belief ATI drivers always worked for me never giving me any problems. They can also tolerate some major overheating and still work for years. Every single ATI card i ever owned since 2003 still in perfect working order.

I also have a bunch of Nvidia cards, but Nvidia always gave me problems from dying cards to drivers being pain in the ass to use. also the cooling on some is really cheap (the fan on my GTX 460 is like styrofoam) but i guess nvidia cards have physix and are better for development

maybe i just have bad luck with nvidia cards, i dont like them.

They should make a coin for ATI/Nvidia instead of heads/tails that way i will have an easier time to decide, I have 6 nvidia cards at the moment 5 of which are either fried or something wrong with them

i also have 6 ATI cards none of which are broken or have any problems
