These are at least twelve years old now and I have no use for them anymore but maybe if you want to cut 'em up slice and dice whatever to make them work, you might find a use for them in your games.

For those who are interested, this is the old kit list:
Mackie SR24-4 Vlz pro mixing desk
Spirit absolute zero monitors
2 compressor/limiter
2 Ultrasound vocal compressors
zoom rfx 2000
zoom 1201 fx
4 way Ultra D.I.
Alesis q6 Keyboard
Roland D20 Keyboard
Boss dr660 drum m/c.
Roland MC303 Synth
Gibson SG Standard
Zoom 8080 guitar f/x pedals
Audio technica condenser mic.
Sennhieser mic.
Shure beta mic

I know its not the best of gear, but I was happy with it.
Everything was sequenced and mixed in good ol' VST V32.5

If it looks like folks are interested in this stuff I may release some more of it.

Awesome! Its one of those threads.

Thanks your welcome

Not taking offense but I have absolutely no idea what you mean by this, its like saying music sounds better if its created today than ten years ago, if your talking about the arrangements then its simply a matter of taste and ya wouldnt say anyone writes better songs today than twenty, thirty years ago, on the same note if your refering to the production then its really down to the sound engineering than anything else and to be honest you need to listen to some vinyl records with the far broader frequency range and fatter bottom end than digital before you compare music created today with music created in Ye Olde Times.
Still, I am glad you like them.

When I say these are old it merely means that I have no need to be hanging onto them and not that they are in any way inferior. These songs have in fact been critiqued by industry pro's who gave them good reviews and forwarded for use in films/tv.

Coming from you I take that as a real compliment and actually its my age and personal musical preference that dictates things, if I were to write one today it would probably still sound retro, but then again how many old songs are sampled by artists today, theres a reason for that, mostly its cos they couldnt write a riff to save themselves.

Oh and by the way I would take Beethoven, Bach or even The doors over Lady Goo Goo any day.

Amen to that! There's nothing wrong with "old school"! With age comes experience, and experience sets the foundation for all things new. TCP.

Ain't no sound like the true, old sound - can't wait to hear these if those "classic" and classic artists were your inspiration.

It was a compliment as its hard to write good retro tunes, the style remind me of kraftwork days.

Believe it or not a lot of those classic synths and studio kit you using are still used in todays dance music just diffrent compressor methods and production, plus most people use vst synths that are copys of those old retro synths.

Thanks s4,
Yeah, first synth I fell in love with was the Roland 101, all those hands on filters to play with in real time and the warmth of the sound always made me feel I would never find it with softsynths. Thing is even the worst sounding twang can be made to punch through a mix with the right filtering.
I do understand though that advances with software and hardware means a really good sound can be achieved and having heard some of your own work its quite mind blowing what can be achieved.
I still prefer analogue for the warmth than digital though and when ya compress these tunes down to mp3 it shaves a lot off the top and bottom ends. Theres a lot to understanding how to space and place your sounds within the stereo range, not to mention the structure of musical arrangement that makes it all work together as a mix.

I am primarily a guitarist though (got my first when I was twelve and played in a few bands over the years) I kind of fell into synths and keyboards as a means of writing and producing songs on my own.

Your one of the few I have met that could throw a song together and professionally produce it as well. As you know if ya cant actually structure a song then your just throwing loops together and ya cant make a silk purse out of a pigs ear.
Still there is nothing like simply playing with sound and if your only goal is enjoyment from creating your own music then thats how it should be no matter how simple or complex (or old) your tunes are.

Many thanks for these but for some reason or other I can't get the 'hush' track to play but I have played the 'old strings' track and loved it from the first three seconds in.
Personaly I think that 'all' good music tracks are 'timeless' and can never be outdated.

Thanks again and all the best of luck.

Thanks for taking the time to check and I finaly got to hear the 'hush' track which I think is equally as good as the other.
I had recently had to 'wipe' this PC and have not installed all the latest codecs and stuff which is why I couldn't play this track for some reason or other (I used another media player which worked).

Your talent in this field is only equaled by your talent for FPSC game making.

All the best of luck.

Thanks again Ross,
Its strange because both tracks were compressed using same.

Edit* Actually just realised Hush has a .wav extension instead of .mp3 this could have been your problem just change it and all should be fine.
Fixed it in the first post.

Leave my cat outta this but yeah, give me The Doors any day!

Do you do anything with brass in it. I'm a Big Band fan - even the early Chicago stuff. I don't know how it would work in games, but I'd like to try it. Thanks for the tunes.

Brian.
